At the Professional Officers Division, our client bring the rich industry experience and technical skills into their work, creating a better physical environment where learning and innovation take place.
They work with teaching programmes and innovation projects to improve the skills of their students and strengthen and energise their industry and the wider community.
A Professional Officer has a combination of job responsibilities relating to the following: mentor and facilitate student learning, participate in and manage innovation projects and manage laboratory resources.
This role will include mentoring and supervising of students during their IWSP and projects where experience in **Mechanical Building Services, Building Information Management (BIM) system and Engineering is required.**
**The responsibilities of this role are**:
- Mentor students during practical learning activities to enhance their technical problem-solving skills. The learning activities may be laboratory classes, projects or IWSP. Development of learning activities and assessment of students may form part of the responsibilities.
- Support research and industrial project work undertaken by the university, where opportunity arises.
- Work with the faculty in designing, planning and the continuous development of the laboratory facilities designated for teaching and research activities in the area. Provide training to students on usage of laboratory equipment.
- Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
- Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
- Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
- For those hired at senior levels, management responsibilities may be included.
- Have **at least 7-8 years of work experience in the Building Service environment**:Deep, hands-on competence and understanding in both **design and management of HVAC and mechanical building services.**:
- **Have strong technical competence in using BIM software for design and engineering works and develop BIM models as well as knowledge in using CAD software such as REVIT, AutoDesk and ArchiCAD.**:
- Have working knowledge of **building services facilities such as Heat Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, heat exchangers, micro-climate, simulations, fire-testing and acoustic experiments**:
- **Have prior working experience in building and facility management**:
- **Have a Degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University.**:
- **Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous.**:
- **Registered PE/CEng **preferred as well as **green mark certification will be advantageous.
