**Job Description** The role**
We are looking to hire an Assistant General Counsel, Asia to join our Legal & Compliance team in Singapore who will report to our General Counsel, Asia.

In this business facing role you will be: (i) providing legal advice and support to our Asia (re)insurance businesses, assisting the General Counsel, Asia in day-to-day activities and delivering projects, liaising with regulators and clients in Singapore and Hong Kong and across Asia to address regulatory and legal queries; and (ii) part of the global team supporting financial crime compliance for PartnerRe Group, with a focus on AML and sanctions.
**The accountabilities**
Two principal prioritities for this role:
- (1) Assisting GC, Asia to deliver on key objectives in Asia:
- identify, manage and mitigate legal, regulatory and reputational risks;
- enable the business to achieve PartnerRe’s strategic and commercial goals by providing legal expertise in an efficient and effective way;
- run and manage regulatory / corporate governance and corporate secretarial aspects for PartnerRe entities in Asia.
- (2) Be a core member of the global team advising on sanctions and AML compliance, and supporting regional L&C teams in implementing compliance policies and procedures across PartnerRe. As part of the global team, you will work with the business and support units to manage sanctions and AML risk, by proactively monitoring and communicating legal/regulatory developments, advising on compliance requirements and best practices, and helping to identify and mitigate risks.
- In order to successfully deliver on these two priorities, the Assistant General Counsel must be able to:
- provide correct and timely assessment of legal & compliance matters and give customer-focused and solution-oriented advice, while retaining independence as legal & compliance adviser.
- provide legal research, counsel and support to non-legal managers and employees on various aspects of PartnerRe’s business.
- provide assistance and support to the company and fellow Legal & Compliance team members on a wide range of regulatory matters, including cyber security and data protection.
- design and implement processes to address legal & compliance deliverables and regulatory obligations in Asia and as appropriate across the Group.
**Qualifications** Technical**
- Solicitor / Common Law qualified Attorney with 3 - 7 years PQE (Post Qualification Experience).
- Reinsurance or Insurance experience preferred. Alternatively financial services. Business facing background.
- International, cross-jurisdictional experience and exposure.
- Regulatory experience and exposure with a Financial Regulatory Authority
- Active interest in, and preferably relevant practical experience and exposure to, financial crime compliance including AML and sanctions. Proficiency in conducting financial crime risk assessments and advising on due diligence red flags.
