HR Operations Specialist

Key Responsibilities for this role:
- Employee life-cycle and human capital risk mitigation initiatives across APAC jurisdictions of Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Australia and Taiwan; to manage and proactively improve:
- Operational aspects of employee life-cycle including onboarding, employee-related queries as it relates to reward & benefits, transfers, specialised review of licensed representatives and off-boarding processes
- Partner with UK HR teams to deliver Reward / Pension & Benefits frameworks in-country ie:
- Support periodic reviews and assessment of competitiveness as well as service levels of in-country employee benefits, as well as ease of use of benefits’ vendor platform usage by employees
- Cover payroll processing when needed on an ad-hoc basis, in particular for Singapore
- Develop and support the roll out of in-country employee wellness programmes progressively, beginning with Singapore and subsequently across rest of APAC region
- Ownership for HR Operational Risk and Control, including ensuring adherence to Group operational risk and control standards and framework. Overseeing controls in all HR operational processes and update operational manuals to meet internal and external audit requirements and Corporate Governance. Other responsibilities include:
- assess operational risk and controls measures across key HR processes based on firmwide Risk & Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA) frameworks, tighten controls where applicable
- effective vendor management where applicable to ensure the adequate support from payroll, benefit and immigration vendors to meet changing requirements of the business
- liaise with UK HR teams concerning reporting requirements, update of HR policies and the participation and rollout of regional projects where required
- ensure compliance to each location’s occupational health and safety requirements
- Ensure HR policies and procedures support the needs of employees whilst ensuring compliance with local markets, as and when external benchmark data demonstrate as such
- Main point of contact for UK HR functional heads (HR COO Areas, Pension & Benefits, Risks & Controls, Rewards etc) and Asia-based managers for specialised topical support from executional standpoint
- Global Mobility & Employee Relations - support the effective execution or resolution for impacted employees in a compliant manner in consultation with in-country rewards & benefits vendors and Asia HR Business Partners; support the closure of employee relations cases in compliance in accordance with local labour laws and through partnership with external counsel
- Other responsibilities include arranging effective induction and orientation programmes for new hires; supporting learning & development initiatives and other ad-hoc employee engagement programmes
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Strong HR generalist/operations/benefits background with more than 8 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry; asset management experience ideal from rewards processing perspective
- Proven track record of delivering HR operational efficiency in a high performing, highly demanding organisation
- Experience in working for large multinational organizations with matrix reporting lines and complex regional/global interfaces; experience in either Workday, Service Now, CloudPay or Big-4 HR consultancy is ideal
- Good verbal and written communication skills with ability to clearly articulate policies and processes amongst Asia stakeholders and employees, and Global / UK-based colleagues who form Centres of Expertise (CoEs)
- Proficient with Singapore Employment Act, IRAS and CPF requirements; experience with any of the other 5 Asian jurisdictions will be a plus
- Able to take a “hands-on” approach in execution and implementing proposed solutions together with Asia HR colleagues
- Supporting continuous improvement by highlighting, streamlining and processing efficiencies; supporting the company’s self-service model
- High levels of drive and resilience in order to deal with a demanding and results-oriented stakeholder group; able to work effectively under pressure and when faced with competing priorities
