The Director of Donor Communications works with the Asia Pacific Philanthropy team to develop, create, and implement donor communications strategies that align with overall goals for the Asia Pacific Region. They provide direction and leadership over a program or initiative. The Director of Donor Communications reports to the Managing Director of Resource Mobilization and Engagement.
The Director of Donor Communications develops and executes an integrated, efficient, and effective donor communications and engagement strategy to help achieve organizational fundraising objectives. They manage an Associate Director of Communications and contract writers and designers as needed. They serve as thought partner to the Asia Pacific Director of Philanthropy and Asia Pacific fundraising staff, using a donor centric approach to co-create compelling and comprehensive communication plans, donor facing materials and engagement touchpoints for UHNW individuals and private foundations. They liaise regularly with the Asia Pacific Marketing Director and the globally dispersed marketing division to tap into campaigns, messaging and communications resources that may be relevant to donor communications. They manage communication strategies and engagement initiatives for high profile or key audiences like principal gift donors, corporate and private foundation partners, and regional boards.
**Responsibilities and Scope**
- Designs, directs, and manages donor driven, strategic communications planning for the Asia Pacific region; inclusive of coordinating the work of other professionals, managing budget, and ensuring program accountability.
- Management responsibility for professional communications staff that are responsible for key initiatives or programs and for hiring and oversight of contract writing services.
- Accountable for meeting strategic goals and objectives.
- Act independently and make decisions within broad program goals; engage internal stakeholders in assessment of work products and deliverables.

**What You’ll Bring**:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum of 9 years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing staff and teams.
- Experience developing donor communication and engagement strategies, preferably oriented toward international programming, and measuring results.
- Experience cultivating and managing client relationships and coordinating projects and deliverables across global organizational structures.
- Experience developing and leading complex projects or programs including financial responsibility and measuring results of strategic plans and programs.
**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
- Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
- Master’s degree or extensive professional experience.
- Management experience including ability to motivate, lead, set objectives, manage performance, and help with conflict resolution on a multi
- disciplinary team.
- Excellent communications, and presentation skills; ability to persuasively convey the mission of The Nature Conservancy to diverse groups including donors, board members and the public.
- Familiarity with communication technologies (e.g. Adobe Suite) and best practices. Experience and/or understanding of communication best practices at a decentralized organization.
- Excellent communications, mediation, and negotiation skills.
- Experience fostering an environment of creativity and professional growth.
- Demonstrated ability in planning and managing budgets.
