Public Affairs Manager

This position reports to the Director of Public Affairs. The role will collaborate other member of the Public Affairs team, as well as with the Communications, Projects and Strategic Partnerships teams to achieve the Alliance’s core strategic and aspirational objectives whilst building and enhancing the organisation’s profile and reputation amongst government and other connected stakeholders. This will include supporting the Senior Leadership Team, Alliance members and key stakeholders, to achieve the collective ambition to end plastic waste in the environment.
The Public Affairs Manager support in the development of policy engagement strategies and help drove in their implementation to uphold the public image of the Alliance. This Public Affairs Manaer will be responsible for policy research and stakeholder mapping and is responsible for driving engagement strategies with stakeholder groups and maintain relationships with national and local governments, intergovernmental organisations, member companies and industry associations, non-governmental organisations, and partners, to build a positive reputation for the organization and influence desired outcomes for the organisation. You should have a demonstrated ability to successfully implement multi-market programmes.
The role will be based in Singapore at the Alliance headquarters.
**Key Responsibilties
**Global Public Affairs Strategy**
- Support in the development and accountable for the smooth implementation of the Alliance’s global public affairs strategy and budget, including identifying, monitoring and analysing policy issues affecting the Alliance
- Drive the delivery of a global stakeholder engagement strategy covering national and local governments, Inter-governmental Organisations, civil societies, industry sectors, and NGOs. This will include support on building and sustaining relationships with stakeholders, from the areas of building a better understanding and awareness of the Alliance mission and operations.
- Propose, develop, enhance, and maintain meaningful relationships with targeted, ministerial, and high-level external audiences from governments, Intergovernmental Organisations, companies and industry associations and non-governmental organisations, partners, and members.
- Build and manage proactive relationships with key external stakeholders who will help to shape, promote, and protect the Alliance’s positioning, including the media (in collaboration with the Communications team), governments, and industry.
- Clearly articulate the strategic positioning and key messaging for identified stakeholders.
**Member Relations**
- Support in maintaining a close connection with the public affairs teams of member companies specifically as it relates to collaborative opportunities, messaging, and policy developments
**Function Responsibility**
- Support the Alliance’s Senior Leadership Team, Director of Public Affairs and other senior executives of the Alliances when they serve as senior policy and government affairs representatives representing the Alliance before government officials, policymakers, and relevant stakeholders.
- Execute the Alliance’s Public Affairs approach as part of its broader strategy to end plastic waste in the environment
- Build and maintain relationships with policymakers and their staff
- Support the Public Affairs Director to manage public affairs consultants and ensure coordination of their activities in support of strategy execution
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Post-graduate qualifications will be an added advantage.
- Public affairs (policy) professional with 8 to 10 years’ experience in multinational, commercial, inter-governmental and/or non-profit organisations, working in a global or regional role
- Experience in public affairs (policy) and strategic communications, especially in efforts to reach policy makers, opinion leaders and relevant stakeholders
- Experience, understanding and interest in purpose, enabling positive social impact, environmental and sustainable development issues.
- Critical thinker with the ability to engage executives and influence peers. Highly collaborative and results-driven who can work effectively to help drive consensus and progress among a varied stakeholder group with diverse priorities
- Willing to work across multiple cultures and time-zones
- Willing to travel
