The Public Affairs Manager drives and executes on the company's advocacy, issues management, and thought leadership priorities with a strong focus on government stakeholders. Working with the Asia Pacific region team, the incumbent will provide public policy depth necessary to represent the business on issues affecting trade, customs, transportation, and other regulatory matters. The incumbent will report to the Region Vice President for Corporate Affairs and collaborate closely with other Public Affairs and Corporate Affairs members representing South-East Asia & Australasia, India, and Greater China.Job Responsibilities Responsible for advocacy, issues management and thought leadership as the Government Affairs lead for North Asia Markets including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea Represent the business in interactions with government, trade associations, and other stakeholders on policy and regulatory matters Act as liaison between UPS and external stakeholders, communicating to internal stakeholders to enhance understanding of stakeholder interests Analyze public policy issues and understand the best practices Coordinate and execute on political and regulatory risk management mitigation plans Job Requirements Possess at least a Degree in International Affairs, Political Science or equivalent At least five years relevant experience working on public policy issues with a good network amongst policy makers Demonstrate good grasp of regional and local politics Able to gather information, analyze and synthesize for reporting purposes Able to communicate effectively with writing and public speaking skills Ability to speak Japanese, Korean or Mandarin will be a plus as the candidate's work portfolio involves frequent liaision in these North Asia countries Able to multi-task in a fast-paced, uncertain, but results oriented environment Proactive team player and with strong interpersonal, planning, organizing and follow up skills Demostrate integrity and professionalism at all times Willing to travel for business needs
