We are looking for a qualified person to lead the regional property underwriting team in Singapore. You will be responsible to ensure that underwriting of property treaty business follows best practice and guidelines for assigned market from South East Asia, Japan, India and Korea. Important aspects of the role are responsibilities for product strategy, underwriting quality and also business development.

The leadership task comprises managerial responsibility for colleagues in Singapore. You will report directly to the regional head of property treaty, APA2, Regional Centre Singapore.

**Your Job**
- Underwriting Quality: Assure the quality of technical risk reviews and underwriting decisions for all reinsurance products including complex or non-traditional deals, observing underwriting guidelines, best practices, underwriting authorities and regulations. Act as referral authority for respective referrals.
- Underwriting Strategy: Support regional and local heads of underwriting in developing and implementing underwriting strategies and risk appetite for assigned markets. Collaborate with the local underwriting teams in Singapore, Mumbai, Seoul and Tokyo to ensure adherence to best practices and guidelines across assigned markets.
- Product Strategy: Develop, enhance and implement LoB product strategies for property treaty business in assigned markets; ensure the alignment of the treaty LoB strategies with both the facultative strategies and the market/client strategies. Support client management by exploring new business fields and growing the portfolio. Develop non-traditional reinsurance and (where appropriate) primary insurance concepts.
- Client facing / Marketing: Drive Munich Re’s perception in the markets as an innovative company that leads opinion on both new and known issues and pro-actively offers clients targeted and bespoke solutions (market visits, presentations, client workshops). Conduct negotiations with clients and clearly explain very complex technical concepts to a client in close cooperation as part of the client team.
- Leadership / Management: Develop the existing property treaty underwriting team in Singapore based on expert know how, competency development and business needs; ensure smooth know-how-transfer in the property treaty community; Promote an open feedback culture and a challenging, supportive and rewarding work environment for team members to expand professionally. Management and control of the work processes in the area of responsibility

**Your Profile**
- Relevant professional qualification (i.e. university degree in mathematics, economics or in a scientific related discipline, or insurance qualifications with relevant experience
- Experience: Minimum 10 years’ underwriting experience in property treaty business including non-traditional business fields, ideally with international working experience
- Expertise: solid understanding of steering concepts, processes and IT tools for underwriting, business administration, business planning and reserving.
- High degree of analytical and problem solving capabilities and a structured and pragmatic approach
- Experience within the respective markets or equivalent comprehensive professional experience in emerging markets as well as in developed, saturated markets
- Ability to work in and to lead intercultural teams of highly qualified professionals; being curious and eager to take on responsibility
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and relationship management.
