We are seeking a Regional Head of Compliance (SVP, Asia Complianance) that will oversee Compliance in the Asia Pacific Region for Sompo International, based preferably in our APAC regional headquarters in Singapore, or elsewhere in close proximity, and reporting to the Sompo International Chief Compliance Officer (based in New York). This individual will be responsible for leading the APAC local-country Compliance teams in an oversight role, and management role to be determined in coordination with each local country CEO and management team, and the Chief Compliance Officer. The Regional Head of Compliance will interact with management across multiple business units and operations. There will be travel to other Sompo International office locations.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Help ensure the Sompo International local country entities maintain ongoing regulatory compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, including the maintenance, development and/or harmonisation of necessary policies and procedures.
- Collaborate closely with the APAC Head of Legal, the global Legal & Compliance Department and other business units (Senior Management, Underwriting, Multinational Team, Risk Management, etc.)
- Ensure the Compliance Officers and Compliance Department in each country is staffed appropriately.
- Implement and oversee a best-in-class compliance framework and program.
- Register and coordinate reporting and/or ensure local offices report as required.
- Undertake compliance monitoring across APAC region.
- _Acting as the main point of contact for compliance issues as and when they arise in the Asia-Pacific region _
- Assist in the development and updating of the annual compliance monitoring plan.
- Communicate with regulators as necessary.
- Provide a day-to-day point of contact for compliance queries from Company branch offices.
- Assist and coordinate regional compliance training.

**Desired Skills & Experience**:

- 10+ years’ experience in APAC insurance industry compliance is preferred within an insurance organisation.
- Experience with building out a compliance program.
- Well-organised with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and meet internal and external regulatory deadlines.
- Team oriented and able to work collaboratively and effectively with business clients and other legal department members.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and a strong work ethic with an ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain strong relationships with management.
