Senior Treaty P&C Underwriter

**Job Summary**

The job description is for a full-time Treaty P&C Lines Senior Underwriter reporting to the CUO of South-East Asia, Fast Growth and Hong Kong Markets (aka Rest of Asia “ROA”, i.e. SEA, Regionals, South Asia ex. India, Taiwan and Hong Kong), based in Singapore and responsible for underwriting, marketing and line of business support for his / her assigned markets.

The jobholder drives the underwriting and implements the strategy for assigned markets in South-East Asia, Fast Growth and Hong Kong markets within the department objectives, and supports the Rest of Asia CUO in the other markets, on need basis, and on strategic planning and decision making.

**Key duties and responsibilities**

The jobholder manages the reinsurance treaty portfolio of his / her assigned markets, which encompasses marketing, planning, underwriting, results monitoring, ensuring compliance with SCOR process / procedures / guidelines for (i) risks analysis, (ii) cat exposures assessment, (iii) pricing and (iv) underwriting delegated authorities. The jobholder is also responsible of the P&C Treaty portfolio of his / her assigned clients and manage the overall relationship with selected managed client(s). In this role, the jobholder also supports the underwriting activity for other territories to achieve the objectives and strategy defined.
- P&C Treaty Underwriting _**_: _**Achieve the profitability target of assigned portfolio, in adherence to SCOR’s UW Plan, UW guidelines and best practices while respecting internal processes (incl. UW, pricing, CAT Modelling) and risk appetite, to actively steer the assigned portfolio according to primary insurance and reinsurance market environment.
- P&C treaty underwriting as per guidelines and procedures.
- Analysis and management of assigned treaty portfolio: incl. cat exposure monitoring, portfolio profile analysis, pricing & modelling (in conjunction with actuaries and with modelers) activity, identify critical issues and discussing with clients / brokers to resolve and monitor the matter.
- UW Plan’s execution in all its dimensions (including new clients / other line of business / deals, underwriting reviews, SCOR P&C internal projects);Quality control on underwriting and data maintenance including claims and exposure data entered in Omega, Pacman, and other tools as per SCOR P&C procedures.
- Follow up the handling / reserving of large claims in close coordination with claims department.
- In close coordination with Rest of Asia CUO to drive the portfolio to expand business initiatives launched in the Rest of Asia markets
- Client Relationship Management _**_: _**Enhance client engagement within allocated market, identify client needs and SCOR Business opportunities. Discuss and provide solutions to internal providers in achieving the planned targets. Working closely with UWRs and specialists and coordinate the interests of the stakeholders to provide to assigned clients with holistic offering of SCOR’s technical services and capabilities.
- Coordinates, participates, and leads various underwriting / marketing activities (incl. Top Management meetings and global lines coordination)
- is responsible to drive profits from managed clients for all line of business, via maintaining a high level of technical and commercial relationships with various stakeholders (incl. brokers), to identify prospects (needs and opportunities) and generate new offers through pro-active marketing.
- Negotiates terms on request and within the relevant guidelines for all new and renewal business with cedants and brokers, incl. being able to discuss complex technical matters with a mindset of a solution provider.
- To increase and enhance the weight of lead / private / innovative deals with assigned clients.
- To improve and update information on client’s files in Salesforce.
- Internal Control and Compliance _: Adherence of internal control and compliance as per established rules, including but not limited to
- Checking of reinsurance slip, treaty wording and endorsements;
- Review of the EGPI and Loss Ratio as per internal control rules;
- KYC, Sanctions and Embargo checks as per legal requirements before the onboarding of new clients and/or inception of treaties underwritten;

**Required experience & competencies**

**Experience**:

- P&C underwriting (experienced and knowledgeable in property treaty reinsurance underwriting and / or property facultative reinsurance and / or direct property underwriting for commercial / industrial risks).
- Strong technical understanding and expertise in direct insurance to discuss underwriting issues, risk assessment, risk engineering & control and pricing with underwriters of insurance companies.
- Preferably with knowledge of some Asian markets and has a network already established.
- Works from the Singapore office with occasional travel required.
