Overview

Rising nationalism and strong domestic opportunity present a growing imperative for localization.

The mandate of the new Localization Program Office is to provide a more orchestrated approach to Intelligent Localization, which includes:
Calibrated deployment to optimize the selection and timing of a managed set of localization levers

Market tailoring to ensure investment will deliver results against specific market realities

A mandate to retain the cost and scale advantages of the current global model

Intelligent Localization builds on Mastercard’s advocacy and government-engagement work and marshals existing market, services, and technology activities in order to

Show up locally and be domestically relevant in markets where we operate.

Bring together all Mastercard to position us as a market partner with governments, regulators, and customers

Focus on commercial outcomes (e.g., maximizing participation in domestic transactions and services)

Support market-level execution, working with country teams to develop the right combination of propositions

This role is at the heart of our intent to scale our business for the long term.

The VP for Localization Strategy Deployment is accountable for:
Supporting colleagues in the Localization Program Office to

Monitor and identify markets at risk of localization based a series of defined triggers or localization signals

Outreach to the local markets and the regional localization champions to assess their needs for Intelligent Localization

Develop a pipeline of ranked and prioritized markets that will demand Intelligent Localization

Work with the product and service teams as well as with O&T to ensure that the localization requirements are understood, included in the roadmaps, and factored during market availability assessments and roll out efforts

Develop and evolve the global localization narrative and playbook and ensure that it is disseminated and understood across the regions

Leading Localization “SWAT” Engagements with the selected countries to

Design the Intelligent Localization Flight-plan thru agile sprints in collaboration with the market teams, and regional and global champions

Review of the market context and Mastercard local strategy and performance

Assess the domestic opportunity that can be captured through Intelligent Localization

Configure an Intelligent Localization proposition to capture such opportunity, including a clear business case

Structure action plan to materialize the Intelligent Localization proposition

Support the local and regional teams in the execution of the Intelligent Localization Flight-plan during a timeframe mutually agreed with the market leaders and regional champions

Consolidate learnings and trends to nurture a feedback loop to colleagues in the Localization Program Office, as well as regional and global champions for future Intelligent Localization efforts

Developing a pool of local / regional talent, regardless of being permanent and temporarily assigned, that can support Localization “SWAT” Engagements

Preferably with a strong and holistic understanding of Mastercard’s products (core, NPP), services (D&S, C&I), and assets (O&T, LFI, Finance, etc)

Proven track record in leading complex corporate initiatives that require collaboration across functional, geographical and cultural lines.

Strong gravitas, exceptional relationship management, influencing and written and oral communication skills
