The Senior Officer / Assistant Manager, Business Development and Project Management Office (BDPMO) is responsible for the execution of the business development strategy and project management support. The role will be responsible in account management of different companies, developing industry partnerships, securing industry funding, and aligning ISCE2’s sustainability-related research areas to industry needs. The role will also be responsible in supporting research divisions with industry engagements in competitive grants proposals. This is a hands-on role that will interface with the different stakeholders within A*STAR, public agencies, local enterprises and multinational companies.
- Assist in connecting companies and researchers/research divisions in ISCE2 by articulating ISCE2’s key capabilities and focus areas when engaging industry or public sector partners
- Help to promote technology commercialization and technology transfer from ISCE2 to the industry and public sector adopters through outreach activities such as seminars, webinars, roundtables, conference etc.
- Structure and monitor research collaboration, service agreements and licensing deals with supervision
- Forge sustained partnership with new and existing clients throughout the business development lifecycle
- Create, support, track, measure and report business development initiatives and achievements in accordance with ISCE2’s SOPs.
- Coordinate and collate documentations required for internal panel review
- Support and track billing process
- Understand basic contractual and technology licencing terms, and be familiar with key terms to support Legal personnel in finalising contractual documents
- Build pipeline of collaboration potentials and to deliver ISCE2’s key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Plan, coordinate, organise and host meetings/visits/trips, both locally and overseas
- Prepare company briefs for key meetings, meeting minutes and pre-trip briefs
- Basic understanding of Intellectual Property (IP) positions and licensing models preferred
Job requirements
- Degree in Business Administration or equivalent, or Degree in scientific discipline related to ISCE2’s core businesses, e.g. Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent
- 3 to 5 years of industry experience in technical sales role related to oil & gas / petrochemical / chemicals, process engineering R&D or related industries. High business acumen is an advantage. Ideally, experiences in leading or supporting strategic development
- Possesses strong grit and able to work under stressful and dynamic conditions.
- Experienced in developing sales strategies and setting appropriate goals.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Power Point and OneNote.
- Familiar with contractual terms and experienced in contract negotiations.
- Executive presence - work confidently at all hierarchical levels.
- Ability to effectively engage stakeholders through active listening and good communication skills.
- Customer-oriented and a team player.
- Passion to build long-term, mutually benefiting relationships with both MNCs and SMEs.
- Avid in managing by influence, good presentation and negotiation skills
- Has an entrepreneurial mindset and hands-on approach.
- Experience in planning, priority setting and project management skills with experience managing multiple opportunities, projects and resources.
- Occasional travel will be required, i.e. 30%.
