**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Title: Cafe Manager

Reports to: Area Manager

Supervises: Cafe Supervisor, Baker, Sandwich Staff, Beverage Staff, Preparation Staff and Cashier.

For Promotion to Area Manager

**JOB EXPECTATION**

Supervise and control the designated outlet to the required standards, within agreed budgetary limits.

Key performance areas include managing team performance, sales building, maximising profitability by effective cost control, people development through training, managing attrition by retention of key subordinates and ensuring maximum customer service experience.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

1) Manage the cafe in such a manner that customer satisfaction and budgeted profit margins are achieved and that a good company image is projected, thus ensuring continued growth.

2) Develop initiatives to build sales, profitability, generate repeat customer counts and maintain effective cost controls in support of these initiatives.

3) Ensure that all menu items are made according to the recipe and presented as shown in the training manual.

4) Maintain a working knowledge of all recipes and production processes and be able to identify quality control issues.

5) Be operationally equipped to manage all stations within the cafe and its related functions.

6) Effectively handle all administrative responsibilities accurately and submit them promptly to the respective department.

7) Responsible for continuous improvement of cafe operations and overall efficiency.

8) Ensure the confidentiality of all company, employees and customers’ information.

9) Responsible for staff recruitment, confirmation, resignation and termination.

10) Effectively select, recruit, train and develop all employees in the cafe.

11) Provide regular feedback to employees on their performance.

12) Provide effective leadership through professional man-management and motivation of subordinates.

13) Responsible for ensuring performance appraisals of all employees are carried out regularly and mapping their career development.

14) Responsible for maintaining productivity by ensuring labour cost (man-hours) is efficiently managed to sales.

15) Responsible for maximising revenue, managing and reducing expenses both directly and indirectly.

16) Minimise customer complaints and manage customer feedback expeditiously and professionally.

17) Manage the cafe and ensure the overall objectives set for the outlet are aligned with the company goals.

18) Demonstrates ability to monitor and control in areas such as inventory management, employee safety, loss prevention and staff turnover.

19) Ability to identify potential concerns and address them efficiently.

20) Observe a high standard of work ethics and be a role model for all employees.

21) Prepare weekly schedules following staffing guidelines.

22) Handle disciplinary problems according to the company and Labour Law guidelines and report to the Human Resource Department immediately.

23) Attend the half-yearly department meeting.

24) Oversee the preparation of duty assignments and staff performance in all aspects of service and job function.

25) Manage all store cleanliness, equipment maintenance and contract services to reduce equipment downtime.

26) Ensure all overtime done by the employees is carried out diligently and with the same level of efficiency.

27) Provide a high level of customer satisfaction in the cafe and maintain effective communication with the customer at all times.

28) Manage all customer's requests regarding set menu and special catering arrangements.

29) Responsible for ensuring the efficient running of the operations without disruption.

30) Ensure all customer's requests are managed and fulfilled whenever possible.

31) Responsible for daily cash collection and cash management.

32) Manage all employees’ internal conflicts and ensure amicable settlement.

33) Ensure all assigned and delegated tasks are followed through and completed satisfactorily.

34) Responsible for ensuring that all established standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained at all times.
