Munich Re Markets (“MRM”) within Munich Re is specialised in all types of strategic transactions for our life insurance companies clients worldwide. Strategic transactions include capital management, financing, strategic risk transfer and, last but not least, the reinsurance of new saving products.

MRM has developed and reinsured numerous individualized saving products across the globe. Having the infrastructure in place to reinsure, administer and risk manage savings and retirement products, MRM is expanding its presence in strategic in-force solutions within South-East Asia, not only for insurance companies but also for asset managers.

It is in this context that MRM is looking for a senior resource to join the structuring team and lead the growth and development of such solutions out of Singapore. The structuring team is currently composed by around 50 people located in multiple hubs across the world, with Hong Kong and Tokyo being key Asia hubs. The new role will focus on the design and delivery of structured / multi asset solutions for insurance and pension clients, will require a deep knowledge of statutory regimes of insurers across South-East Asia as well as the tools insurers utilize to optimize/ manage their solvency and other key ratios.

Your job
- Currently works in financial markets, investment banking, a life (re)insurance company, reinsurance broker or an actuarial advisor
- Have between 10- and 15-years’ experience which includes including a fair amount of directly relevant experience covering structured insurance solutions focused on financial risk mitigation as well as solvency capital relief
- Have a deep knowledge of statutory regimes of insurers across South-East Asia, in particular on market risks within Risk-Based Capital regimes in the relevant jurisdictions.
- Have clear understanding or direct experience of executability and availability of local market currency risk mitigation instruments (mainly interest rate, currency, and credit risks, however some equity background is helpful) within the South-East Asia markets
- Have good knowledge of life insurance companies’ needs and a general overview of the types of structured insurance solutions being executed by insurance companies within the region.
- Be entrepreneurial and ambitious for business growth.
- Be a team player. The MRM approach to doing business is based on transparency and a strong partnership between Structuring and Origination to jointly own the business.
- Have the ability and the willingness to pitch the product to Munich Re clients across Asia in coordination with the origination team
- Have a sense of innovation. Munich Re Markets has the capacity and track record of delivering one-of-a-kind and very large reinsurance solutions
- Is based in or willing to immediately relocate to Singapore

- **Solution design**
- Development of insurance solutions targeting financial market risk mitigation and/or solvency capital relief for life insurers
- Extending offering of insurance solutions offered by MRM to include the full suite of structures offered by MRM’s competitors
- Solution feasibility and pricing assessment
- Definition and construction of solution hedging
- **Origination support**
- Client meeting support and active participation
- Market awareness (Asia, with a focus on South-East Asia)
- Lead client negotiations before and during transaction execution
- Act in partnership with origination to screen potential opportunities for prioritization
- **Solution Delivery**
- Be transaction captain for all material opportunities of MRM in South-East Asia
- Risk analysis (quantitative/qualitative)
- Transaction documentation negotiation and coordination with MRM Counsel
- Internal approval processes coordination and ownership
