**Role Description**:
A Retail Assistant at an aquarium shop will be responsible for delivering an outstanding customer service experience, ensuring the store’s appearance is maintained to high standards, and assisting customers in selecting products that best suit their needs. The Retail Assistant will be knowledgeable about various aquatic life, aquarium equipment, and maintenance products, helping customers make informed decisions.
**Specific Responsibilities**:
1. Trainee to maintain a comprehensive understanding of the products and livestock sold in the store to confidently and accurately answer customer questions. Suggest suitable products and alternatives to customers based on their needs and desires. Handle cash register operations, process payments, and ensure that all transactions are accurate. 2
- Trainee will be able to assist customers by providing information and advice on fish, plants, aquarium supplies, and care. Address customer questions and concerns promptly and professionally.
3. Trainee to ensure that the store's display aquariums are clean, aesthetically pleasing, and provide a healthy environment for the fish and plants. Regularly monitor the health and well-being of the fish and other aquatic life, reporting any issues to the appropriate staff member. Feed the fish and other aquatic life as per the schedule and dietary requirements.
4. Trainee will help to maintain adequate stock levels by participating in inventory activities, including receiving shipments, restocking shelves, and conducting inventory counts. Ensure products are well-organized on the shelves, making it easy for customers to locate items. Order new stock as required and coordinate with suppliers and managers regarding inventory levels.
5. Trainee to keep the store clean, organized, and welcoming, including cleaning shelves, counters, and displays.Make sure all store equipment (e.g., aquarium filtration systems, lighting) is in good working order. Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure the safety of staff, customers, and animals. Respond to emergencies, such as spills or breakages, promptly and effectively.
6. Trainee will be able to communicate effectively with other team members, including providing updates and receiving instructions. Collect and manage customer feedback, passing it onto the management as appropriate.
7. Trainee to stay informed about store promotions or sales and communicate this information to customers. Assist in setting up attractive product displays to enhance sales.
8. Trainee will learn to offer demonstrations on fish care, aquarium maintenance, and other related topics to customers. Offer customers brochures, care sheets, and other written materials to enhance their knowledge about aquarium care. Trainee to keep up to date with the latest trends in the aquarium industry, including new products, species, and care techniques.
