Chief Technology Officer

As the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of our data discovery and data management software company, you will play a pivotal role in driving the technological vision, strategy, and execution. Your primary responsibility will be to lead and oversee all aspects of technology development, including software engineering, data discovery, data management, and product innovation. You will collaborate closely with the executive team, product managers, and cross-functional teams to advance the company's growth and success in the data management industry.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Technology Strategy and Leadership
- Define and communicate the company's technological roadmap, aligning it with the overall business objectives and long-term vision.
- Identify emerging trends, opportunities, and potential risks in the data discovery & data management software landscape.
- Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to the executive team on technology-related decisions, investments, and partnerships.
- Foster a culture of innovation, agility, and technical excellence within the organization

2. Software Engineering and Development:

- Lead and manage the software development life cycle, ensuring the timely high-delivery of high-quality software products.
- Drive the design and implementation of scalable, efficient, and user-friendly data discovery and data management solutions.
- Collaborate with our sales, gtm, product and cross-functional teams to define product requirements and prioritise development efforts and focus.
- Establish and enforce software engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes.

3. Data Discovery and Management:

- Define and execute strategies for data discovery, cataloguing, and metadata management.
- Design and optimise data models, data integration - connectors, and data governance processes.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data discovery and management technologies, incorporating relevant ones into the company's products and services.

4. Infrastructure and Cloud Architecture:

- Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of the company's technology infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cloud service.
- Ensure scalability, availability, and security of infrastructure to support data discovery and management services.
- Evaluate and select appropriate cloud service providers, managing vendor relationships and service level agreements.
- Implement cloud-native architectures and leverage cloud services for optimized data processing and storage in association with our existing C++ frameworks.

5. Team Management and Development:

- Build and lead a high-performing technology team, fostering collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.
- Recruit, hire, and retain top technology talent, ensuring the team possesses the necessary skills and expertise - leveraging both on shore, off shore and contractors as required.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training and development opportunities for team members.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Ph.D. is a plus.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in a senior technology leadership role within a software development or data management company.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of data discovery, metadata management, and data management, data integration, data warehousing, and analytics technologies.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex software projects on time and within budget - migrating from legacy code C++ to modern code standards inc knowledge of Unix, Linux and Windows.
- Expertise in software engineering methodologies, agile development practices, and DevOps principles.
- In-depth understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience with cloud-native architectures.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks, data quality management, and data security best practices.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to align technology initiatives with business goals.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
