Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead & source investment opportunities. Lead the research, analysis, and evaluation of deals across the full spectrum of credit strategies, including leveraged loans, high-yield bonds, distressed debt, and special situations, direct lending, structured products, non-performing loans (NPLs), and equities with a specific focus on Southeast Asia (including Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam & Philippines)
- Focus on direct lending, distressed and special situation transactions with a focus on event-driven and cross capital structure credit intensive situations.
- Lead due diligence on opportunities including past and projected financial performance, quality of management teams, investment merits and risks, expected returns, regulatory environment, industry dynamics, and other relevant factors.
- Review 3rd party due diligence reports and meet with company management and review past performance, strategy, outlook, industry issues, and other relevant topics.
- Make investment recommendations based on the results of the team’s due diligence and analysis. Oversee the drafting of various credit strategy investment recommendations as well as presenting these to the department and the Investment Committee.
- Coordinate with internal groups with respect to monitoring ongoing investments.
- Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of potential exit alternatives.
- Represent ARES SSG externally and be an active communicator of the organization’s strategies and objectives
- Review, analyze and comment on investment recommendations prepared by other members of the Group
- Help to lead the strategic decision-making process for the Group, participate in and contribute to departmental meetings.
**Position Requirements**
Experience leading successful negotiations with multiple stakeholders and executing a wide range of agreements (confidentiality, purchase and sale, shareholder, etc.).
- Proven experience in leading successful deals (e.g. sourcing, analysis, due diligence, execution, and monitoring); proven track record of successful investment recommendations across SEA; excellent judgment and “sense of the deal”.
- Solid, demonstrated experience in Southeast Asia (especially in Indonesia) but also with an ability to work effectively across an international platform.
- Significant relationship management experience including primary responsibility for managing relationships with portfolio companies and other external stakeholders.
Demonstrated persuasive skills and flexibility, adaptability, initiative, and creativity as well as the ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure while being a team player who enjoys a high-performance culture are critical to success in this role.
Relevant educational qualifications from top-tier institutions.
- Southeast Asian languages (especially Indonesian Bahasa) are strongly preferred.
