**Key duties and responsibilities**
- Provide legal & compliance advice and counsel to the business lines and their leadership.
- As the APAC Compliance Officer:
- Actively monitor the APAC Hub compliance with applicable compliance and regulatory processes, including sanctions, AML, data protection and privacy, etc.).
- Develop and conduct compliance trainings for APAC
- Implement required policy and procedure changes for the SCOR companies in the APAC region by monitoring all relevant regulatory information sources, identifying regulation changes and communicating change impact to business leaders, recommending solutions and ensuring organizational compliance
- Collaborate with individual licensees, corporate attorneys, internal audit, Group Compliance and/or other contributors as needed to effectively communicate necessary changes and requirements in all targeted jurisdictions
- Monitor and research legislative changes relevant to the APAC Hub, develop and communicate recommended courses of action and facilitate organizational decision making
- Document drafting, review, negotiation and completion within expected timeframes and to a high standard of quality.
- Identify and protect the Company’s interests in all matters.
- Document work and maintain departmental records.
- Represent the Company in a professional manner throughout the insurance/reinsurance industry through interaction with external stakeholders and at meetings as appropriate.
- Legal research as may be required to perform functions.
- Issue investigation, internal client interviews and reports to internal stakeholders
- As appropriate, retain and manage outside counsel to ensure high quality results within pre-established budgets and expectations.
- Assume significant roles in divisional projects to enable the business units/internal clients to achieve goals.
- Provide clear, concise legal advice, grounded in thorough knowledge of Company business and process, to senior business unit and Hub leadership.
- Proactively engage in the business processes of internal clients so as to anticipate needs and risks and work with the clients to manage the same.Accurate and timely production of all assigned tasks.
**Experience**:
- Minimum Experience: 10-15 years in private practice or corporate environment. Insurance or reinsurance experience preferred.
- Must possess excellent research and writing skills.
- Must be a self-starter, capable of engaging internal clients, understanding their business issues and concerns, and delivering quality legal advice and consultation in a timely fashion.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, intellectually stimulating environment with professionals from multiple disciplines, including actuarial, finance, operations and sales and marketing.
- Ability to work in a collaborative manner is critical to success.
- Ability to work on multiple assignments and projects simultaneously.
- Must deliver high quality work product to clients within established timeframes.
- Must be able to work with mínimal supervision and instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and team assignments with mínimal supervision and instruction.
