**Infrastructure Planning Engineer (Senior/Staff)**:
**Responsibilities**:
As an Infrastructure Planning Engineer in our Operations Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for:

- Overseeing our global infrastructure, associated resource pools (physical server fleet, peering links, IP addresses, AS numbers, etc.), and vendor relationships.
- Analyzing our global traffic patterns, link capacity, peering arrangements, colocation and hosting agreements, and other infrastructure, and continuing to evolve these in line with our network architecture and service strategy.
- Contributing to (and challenging) the network architecture and service strategy, including identifying and carrying out experiments and proofs of concept to help evaluate technical options.
- Working closely with the Product Engineering teams to ensure the operability and reliability of network designs and related product features.
- Defining the standards for infrastructure management, capacity planning, capacity management, and ongoing monitoring.
- Defining and enforcing quality for all types of providers, evaluating providers against our definitions, and selecting the best providers that meet our standards.
- Driving automation into our network management practices.
- Ensuring we meet our business OKRs and KPIs relating to infrastructure.
- Staying within acceptable risk levels as defined in our datacenter, infrastructure provider and server security risk categorization system.
- Being aware of and documenting the market players, pricing, and influences to ensure our services remain competitive with the best mix of quality and cost.
- Identifying and leading initiatives to improve team and department capabilities.
- Mentoring and coaching other team members.

**To succeed in this role, we'd love for you to have experience in some or all of the following**:

- A background in one or more of the following areas:

- Network architectures and technologies
- Internet service provision, routing, and international transit and peering
- Datacenter procurement, capacity planning, or capacity engineering
- IT purchasing, contracts management, or similar
- Intermediate to advanced level knowledge:

- Internet routing, peering, and transit - protocols and industry practices
- Planning, scheduling, and coordinating hardware upgrades, rollouts, and replacements
- Procurement of technical services and hardware
- Project management
- Vendor management
- A background or knowledge of the datacenter industry, especially when it comes to colocation and hardware leasing
- A background or knowledge of the ISP industry, especially when it comes to peering and global transit
- Understanding metrics and reports
- Documenting processes and following procedures
- Good spoken communications in English
- Good writing/documentation skills in English
