Senior Court Reporter

The focus of this operational role is preparing a complete, word-for-word account of judicial proceedings or other events where a detailed record is required using a computerised shorthand (stenotype).
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Attend court proceedings and arbitrations.
- Listen to audio recording of court/arbitration proceedings.
- Provide Realtime court reporting and audio transcription.
- Create verbatim written versions of court/arbitration proceedings.
- Conduct due diligence on case-related terms/names.
- Ensure the highest possible level of accuracy in every legal transcript.
- Preparation of glossaries.
- Ensure achievement of contextual sense and flow of legal transcripts.
- Proofreading of transcripts.
**Requirements**:
**What we are looking for in you**
- Experience working with CaseCatalyst or Eclipse software.
- Possess an expert shorthand speed of at least 180 words per minute.
- Be proficient in Realtime and computer-aided transcription machine.
- Be proficient in English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Have an excellent understanding of legal principles and medical terminology.
- Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Have an understanding and appreciation of legal and business ethics.
- Possess a high level of professionalism.
- Able to operate the court reporting software effectively and efficiently.
- Possess own steno machine.
- You are a team player, not afraid to roll up your sleeves to drive the execution of tasks.
**Hours**
- Part-time, 9.00am - 6.00pm.
- Work outside of these hours and during public holidays may be required to attend proceedings.
