Sybase/postgreSQL Dba at Singapore

The operational support covers the following technical scope:

- **Sybase Databases (Primary Skillset)**:

- **PostgreSQL (Secondary Skillset)**

**Main Responsibilities**

As a experienced resource of his /her team, he /she:

- Well versed in Sybase (Primary) and PostgreSQL (Secondary) Database Technologies as DBA
- Database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, high-availability strategies with Sybase/PostgreSQL technologies.
- Administering, maintaining, developing and recommending policies and procedures for ensuring the performance, availability, security and integrity of the company’s databases and systems.
- Proactively monitoring production databases for optimum performance.
- Troubleshoot recurring problems and fix them permanently.
- Resolve locking conflicts/blocking and resource utilization Identifying and resolving database performance issues, database capacity issues and other database issues.
- Constantly seek out methods to better handle data and increase system efficiency which also includes, but not limited to, assisting developers with query tuning and schema refinement
- Performing regular deployments, scheduled maintenance and house-keeping.
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, document changes and provide reports.
- Anticipating hardware requirements and storage capacity planning for production, physical database implementation architecture and design, test and development environments and implementing replication, archiving and backup and recovery strategies.
- Ensuring availability and integrity all database environments
- Point of escalation in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues,
- Writing technical and RCA (Root Cause Analysis) documentation
- Strong Experience in writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary(metadata)
- Owning and Managing the projects and be final escalation point for these projects on technical and functional grounds
- Incident management and propose and implement stability of databases with short and long term goals
- Conduct DB DR Drill activity, ensure to bring the DR site online if any outage at Primary site
- Manage the Projects and be point of Contact for Support and Developers/Architects
- Propose and develop improved methodologies to increase efficiency and institute best practices around database security and access

As an experienced resource of his/her team, he/she:

- animates the team to encourage collaboration and sharing of best practices,
- shall have a role in supporting technical skills development and provides training when required
- supports new technologies and leverages them to provide consistency of service across streams,
- encourages service improvements for all Sybase/SQL/PostgreSQL services supported throughout the organization,
- documents, reviews, maintains and shares relevant technical information to the team
- provides technical direction, supports services both proactively and reactively to maintain the availability and reliability of system infrastructure in accordance to the SLA,
- focuses on automation and optimum use of the team to improve efficiency,
- drives and delivers root cause for any high severity issue,
- reviews technology changes to identify potential risks,
- responsible for the problem management module in ITSM

As an experienced professional in Sybase/PostgreSQL Services, he/she:

- supports his/her team during diagnosis when technical issues rise in his/her scope of expertise,
- aware of the global IT structure so that he/she anticipates interrelationships within the organization,
- manages activities which involve direct relationships with end users and activities like architecture, design, project management, etc.
- engages with technical peer, Service managers, Architect and project teams on technology roadmap and projects,
- facilitates transformation projects and suggest future directions for new areas of improvement and change,
- available and able to drive technically, any complex or high severity incidents that occur within the scope of their role,
- facilitates collaboration and spread of information from and to the team,
- actively engages to understand new technologies and technology trends and reviews them with a view to incorporating them operations,
- technically coach and develop partner resources to improve productivity,
