**Research Fellow in Family Medicine and Primary Care (Prof Helen Smith)**
The FMPC team is a multidisciplinary group with expertise in general practice, evidence-based medicine, gerontology, psychiatry, social science, psychology, and statistics. It aims to deliver high-quality research designed to improve clinical, managerial and policy decision making for the benefits of patients, families, and communities in Singapore. FMPC supports and promotes the involvement of patients and the public in health research.
A Research Fellow is required for a 12 month project on “Patient informed design of a risk communication intervention for improving the uptake of preventive measures in people who have a polygenic risk of CVD or T2D”. It builds on the expertise within FMPC, LKC Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, of Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in Research.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review of the PPI/co-design initiatives used in studies published about communicating risk to patients.
- Organising, conducting, and report writing of Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Hawkers in different localities across Singapore.
- Helping facilitate codesign workshops, including recruitment of GPs from the Primary Care Research Network.
- Contributing to the preparation of the interventions to be used in the Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT).
- Contributing to the preparation of the patient materials for recruitment to the RCT.
- Writing a journal article about the public’s contributions to the design of this RCT.
Skills & Qualifications:
- PhD (Research Fellow) or equivalent in health services research or a related discipline (eg psychology, anthropology, public health, social science, statistics)
- Experience in health services research, preferably in primary health care setting
- Conducting research using a range of methods (preferably experience of quantitative and qualitative methods and evidence synthesis)
Qualities:
- Highly motivated, meticulous and well-organized with good leadership skills.
- Able to work independently and collaborate effectively in a highly diverse, multi-cultural and interdisciplinary team.
- Articulate, strong language competencies, fluent in written and spoken English with good communication skills.
- An effective communicator to function as a liaison with stakeholders and collaborators.
