Nat Cat Expert

Across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa, we operate life and health, non-life reinsurance, and primary insurance businesses. Established in 1975, our Singapore office is dedicated to supporting our growth in Singapore and serving as a regional hub and centre of excellence for the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa regions.

We are now looking for a Nat Cat Expert to develop and evaluate nat cat models. You will provide support to underwriting departments in all Nat Cat related topics, analysis of market and nat cat exposures and trends in Asian markets, continuing the provision of high quality client services on nat cat topics.

**Your Role**
- Develop, evaluate and improve internal probabilistic nat cat models including comparison and benchmarking of different modelling approaches and checking against loss experience
- Pricing and pitching for parametric deals. Unlock new parametric triggers with solid modelling foundation
- Evaluate vendor Nat Cat models to form external risk view
- Support respective underwriting departments in Asia Pacific and Africa with all natural hazard related topics
- Inspect claims arising from major disasters/losses, and collect and evaluate statistical claims data for such events
- Assess nat cat risks, and support pricing of such risks for reinsurance treaties
- Prepare or help prepare technical publications (MR brochures and publications, articles in insurance journals, client publications and others)
- Expand and update scientific network with modelling community and universities
- Hold, or participate in, client seminars and client visits relevant to natural hazards. Deliver presentations at regional market events and at technical/scientific conferences

**Your Profile**
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in natural sciences, engineering or a related technical field
- Sound understanding of atmospheric perils is a plus.
- Approximately 5 to 10 years of experience using and developing probabilistic nat cat models project experience
- Experienced in pricing and pitching of parametric products
- Proficient in relevant underwriting and rating tools/risk modelling (eg. RiskLink)
- Strong computing and programming skills (e.g. Matlab, R); knowledge about structured databases and geographical information systems is a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team with good project management skills
- Solution oriented with a strong willingness to share and transfer knowledge
- High-level of curiosity and eagerness to contribute to the team goals, while effectively managing time and priorities
- Excellent command of verbal and written English
