[What the role is]

The Waste Collection Department (WCD) oversees the implementation of provisions and schemes for the collection of general waste in Singapore. We administer the Public Waste Collection scheme, regulate General Waste Collectors, implement Pneumatic Waste Conveyance System and Code of Practice requirements, and carry out enforcements against breaches of legislative provisions.

**What you will be working on**

You will be part of the dynamic team responsible for the management of General Waste Collectors and enforcement against the illegal dumping of waste. Your scope of work will include but not be limited to:

- Attend to public feedback and enquiry on illegal dumping of waste.
- Conduct routine surveillances and site inspections at areas prone to illegal dumping activities.
- Interview and record statements of offenders and witnesses.
- Gather evidence, investigate offences under the Environmental Public Health Act and recommend enforcement actions against offenders.
- Liaise with other enforcement agencies to coordinate joint inspections.
- Analyse collected illegal dumping data and make recommendations for predictive surveillance.
- Assist with other ad-hoc work, projects and events as assigned.

**[What we are looking for]**

The job might be for you if you possess the following qualities:

- Diploma in Environmental Science, Law and Management or Legal Studies is preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in enforcement and investigative work is advantageous.
- Proficient in investigation techniques, interviewing skills and recording of statements.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office to deliver work submissions.
- Strong observation and organisational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Enjoy performing outdoor field work.
- Willing to work outside normal office hours when required.
- Possess a valid Class 3 driving licence and willing to drive the departmental vehicle during course of work.
- As part of the shortlisting process for this role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.
