Job Summary- Resolve claims within prescribed authority levels on commercial claims reflecting technical and reinsurance complexity, in the most effective, efficient way while delivering a customer-centric claims service. We would be looking for someone with experience in technical and complex claims for Property & Engineering lines.- Role & Responsibility:
- Update claims file by accurately capturing and updating claims data/information in compliance with best practices for commercial claims in the general property portfolio which includes international programs, reinsurance and coinsurance arrangements and bordereau claims
- Use judgment to determine policy verification and coverage determination by analysing applicable policy wordings and determining whether the loss falls within the coverage
- Ensure a timely resolution to claims by developing case strategy, developing a case evaluation and escalating issues as appropriate
- Use judgment to determine liability by gathering and analyzing relevant facts, utilizing applicable law and establishing basic principles of negligence
- Establish timely Probable Ultimate Cost reserves and perform ongoing review throughout claims cycle within authority limit by estimating and validating value of claims at key review milestones
- Assess damages by calculating applicable damages or range of damages and any recovery opportunities
- Negotiate settlement of claim by establishing appropriate negotiation strategy and manage vendors as needed to drive best settlement strategy
- Manage litigation by assigning counsel within the approved panel where applicable, establishing litigation plan and budget, coordinating defense lawyer activities, continuously reviewing the potential for settlement with claimant, reviewing litigation expenses and authorizing payments
- Job Functions- Manage expenses by working within vendor approved networks and managing scope of work assigned to outside contractors
- Customer-centric mindset with proactive communication, and awareness of customer facing conduct risks
- Work with other departments as needed including reserving actuary, underwriting and sales to drive overall successful business strategy for the organisation
- Be a team player with a positive attitude to work within a team of experienced professionals
- Autonomous and self-starter attitude with ability to seek out continuous improvement opportunities and drive initiatives
- Develop, propose and, where appropriate, lead the implementation of technical initiatives to improve processes, develop policies and generate innovation consulting with leaders and executives to improve business effectiveness and support a customer centric claims service
- Develop processes and review policies relevant to functional/business specialism in order to ensure they are in line with strategic business objectives
- Business Accountabilities- Review and prioritise time to manage portfolio within authority limits whilst maintaining exceptional quality of claims services
- Communicate to relevant stakeholders on large loss reporting and ensuring settlement strategy is documented on each and every file
- Diagnose issues early and seek out expert technical advice within team or amongst vendors when needed to drive best solution for each claim
- Collect, analyse and document complex data to make informed, authoritative technical/professional decisions and recommendations in order to accurately assess the value of claims and also contribute to the improvement of business performance in the medium and longer term
- Be recognised in the industry as a fair but technically firm insurer that is not afraid to challenge claims and policies when warranted
- Continuous improvement and innovation to recommend process / system improvement to enhance customer experience and work flow efficiency within the team
