Material Science Lab is part of the Research and Development facilities located in Shugart building to support all HDD and some non-HDD material related selection, qualification, failure analysis, etc. The function of the lab includes performing components level material, coating and adhesive selection and qualification for new products. Perform failure analysis on the drives that failed different designed reliability or functional tests, etc. to help in improving the cleanliness/material/coating/adhesive robustness. In addition, perform drives failure analysis to all pre-launch and post launch (e.g., customers’ returns) drives to help in resolving and improving drives quality.

**About you**:

- Organic analyst to perform proactive components/material outgassing/extraction analysis and support drive failure analysis in terms of organic contamination related area. Investigates, develops, and improvises organic methods and techniques to resolve organic issues.
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments. This job is a fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position.
- Run Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS) - Auto Thermal Desorption (ATD) involving daily machine tuning, weekly calibration, worldwide correlation, troubleshooting, and analysis using machine learning macro. Perform drives/components outgassing/chemical extraction and data analysis to provide technical advice in organic contamination related area.

**Your experience includes**:

- Degree in Applied Sciences (especially Chemistry) or Material Science, Engineering field, etc.
- Preferable with GC/MS (Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometer) experience
- Know how to operate Fourier Transform Infra-Red Spectrometer (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) / Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis will be an advantage.
- Efficient in Microsoft Office (Word/PowerPoint/Excel)
