**UWCSEA** has a vacancy for August 2025 at its **East Campus** for a Teacher of High School Drama.

The successful appointee must have a tertiary qualification in Drama in Education and experience teaching the IB Diploma Theatre Course as well as High School Drama. The appointee will also be required to take Middle School Drama classes. The appointee will be responsible for creating a positive learning environment based on the College mission and values where all students are challenged and supported in their Drama learning. As a valued member of the Drama Department, the successful appointee will participate enthusiastically in both academic and production life, contributing to the wide variety of productions and performance opportunities offered at UWCSEA East.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Constructing learning experiences that challenge students, support the diversity of learners in each classroom. This includes demonstrating a strong commitment to concept-based teaching and learning, along with a commitment to putting intercultural understanding into practice within the classroom.
- Utilising the UWCSEA Learning Principles as a foundation for effective teaching and learning.
- Contributing positively to the collaborative culture of the Drama department and broader High School teams.
- Ensuring assessments support ongoing learning and provide timely, relevant and appropriate feedback to students on formative and summative assessments.
- Demonstrating effective classroom management that shows an understanding of the academic, social and emotional dimensions of learning.
- Keeping parents informed about the learning of their children, and be proactive in communication with parents.
- Supporting personal and social-emotional learning through academic classes and also as a mentor to a class of students (similar to an advisor / pastoral teaching role).
- Contributing positively to the collaborative culture of the Drama Department.

**Person Specifications**
- A degree and teaching qualification is a prerequisite.
- Culturally sensitive practitioner who is committed to developing student access to diverse and representational Theatre performance.
- An excellent understanding of contemporary practice in Drama Education.
- A commitment to intercultural understanding in an international school environment and understanding how challenges and opportunities around diversity, equity, and inclusion impacts students, colleagues, parents, and themselves.
- Teachers should be willing and eager to participate in the five key elements of a UWCSEA education: Academics; Activities; Outdoor Education; Personal and Social Education and Service.
- Academic expectations include enthusiastic participation in Professional Learning.
- Pastoral expectations include the leadership of a mentor group, unless the teacher is exempted due to other responsibilities.
- On average the College expects a yearly contribution of two sessions per week in each season to Activities and/or Service in Drama; this will be through the appointee’s commitment to the production calendar.
- The College expects that teachers will participate enthusiastically in the curricular Outdoor Education experiences which are relevant to their students and will also occasionally volunteer for holiday Outdoor Education trips.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is essential alongside a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners.
- A passion for working with young people and understanding the unique developmental stages of 11-18 year olds.
