Amazon Web Services is seeking a talented Engineering Manager to become part of a world class engineering team to lead the Colocation Engineering team across our rapidly expanding Asia Pacific (APAC) portfolio.

You will direct a team of engineers and work directly with internal business teams and with colocation vendors to identify, document, and resolve any operational/design deficiencies which could impact a site’s capability or availability. You will have opportunities to influence standards, processes and the direction of our business on a global scale.

You must be able to lead a small international team of multidisciplinary engineers and depend on others to accomplish the required work. As a colocation engineer manager at Amazon you will be working extensively with external colocation vendors as well as internal groups such as business development, engineering and program managers. Amazon has a global presence and, following COVID travel restrictions, a 25% travel will be expected as part of this role. Projects will be throughout the region and a degree of international travel and support will be necessary.

As an engineer within our team you will spend a regular part of your time analyzing and improving every aspect of our value stream.
- Work with internal teams to understand and respond to evolving user requirements.
- Lead a team of data center colocation engineers across APAC.
- Own the colocation engineering technical basis of design agreements in collaboration with other disciplines to create colocation lease agreements.
- Understanding of: electrical diagrams, control diagrams, mechanical systems, BMS, EPMS, building operations, control circuits and industrial HVAC.
- Coordinate work internally within the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.
- Conduct site assessments against AWS standards for collocation data centers, legacy facility upgrades, and general capital endeavors.
- Perform risk analysis and availability calculations for vendor owned and operated collocation data center’s infrastructure to determine fit-for-use/fit-for-service.
- Influence AWS’ design and specification requirements to meet our business needs.
- Document root-cause failure analysis associated with infrastructure and equipment failures.
- Work with local agencies having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations and commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical/mechanical/fire suppression/controls systems.
- Support Operations to determine utilization, efficiency, and fail-over analysis on critical systems.
- Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
- Travel to sites for site review and work with onsite controls deployment engineers, as well as provide engineering evaluations, controls systems startup assistance as needed.
- Be a leader within the global group as well as within internal and external teams that support Amazon’s data centers.
- Having fun and offering creative, out of the box solutions.
- Masters in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering,
- 10+ years of experience in project coordination with multiple teams or vendors to meet project requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a manager for multiple international direct reports in data center engineering.
- Any other additional language is a plus.
