Job Responsibilities
S/he will build relationships with colocation (COLO) service providers and work with them to manage critical electrical and mechanical systems within data centers. Responsibilities include responding to emergent failures, managing and mitigating risks, and tracking daily maintenance of critical equipment. S/he will evaluate the service performance of COLO providers and drive improvements based on operational data. Additionally, s/he will collaborate with internal teams, such as procurement, to improve SLA terms and strategies.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing critical facility operations of Alibaba's overseas data centers.
Overseeing changes to critical systems, responding to failures, and tracking preventive maintenance.
Managing capacity of facility systems, including power and cooling.
Assessing and mitigating availability risks of facility systems.
Driving and implementing projects to enhance capacity, efficiency, and reliability.
Supporting IT managers on projects and operations.
Assisting design and project teams with new site/data hall construction and commissioning.
Establishing performance benchmarks, conducting analyses, and preparing operational reports.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical engineering, or related fields.
At least 3 years of critical facility management or operation experience in large-scale data centers, or 5+ years in large-scale production facility management.
Experience with MEP equipment such as UPS, generators, chillers, pumps, and cooling towers.
Ability to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
High attention to detail, with a proactive approach to risk identification and resolution.
