R&d Senior Manager

Establish a new R&D lab capability (year 1) & high-performing R&D team in Singapore focused on Personal Care pipeline product development for the Dettol global franchise.
- Manage remote global team (20+) including direct reports across regions (between US & Singapore).
- Contribute to the Category Innovation process and 3-year plan to identify new projects for the pipeline and support the implementation of a technology strategy to underpin long-term Category pipeline development.
- Work with Category Management to develop clear Innovation Development Briefs and be accountable for:

- achievement of technical project development milestones and objectives.
- effectively liaise with and motivate the cross-functional matrix of resources required to advance initiatives successfully through the product development process.
- management of the interface with Product Supply & R&D Operations to ensure “seamless” project handover to manufacturing, launch to the market, and subsequent rollout.
- Allocation of resources within the team to meet agreed on project objectives and timelines within the Category strategy.
- Develop sound commercial knowledge and a close relationship with the Category and Business Team(s) in UK HQ & ASEAN region to understand key consumer & business needs and ensure the development team is agile and responsive.
- Recruit & build a cohesive, motivated, and high-performance R&D team within a results-oriented culture, where personal responsibility/initiative, teamwork, and mutual respect are key.
- Be responsible for the coaching & development of his/her team members to enable them to achieve their full growth potential.
- Responsible for ensuring that facilities and processes are operated with Health and Safety standards as a top priority and to the required standards of good laboratory practice as required.
- To proactively track and respond to competitor threats by
- understanding their development activities.
- advising Category Team(s) and the business of competitor threats.
- identifying technical solutions in response to such threats.
- Build strong external partnerships & networks (with strategic suppliers, Universities etc.) to help support and drive innovation growth.

**Requirements**:

- BS/BA degree in related science and 10+ years’ experience within an FMCG environment (ideally in Hygiene, Personal Care and/or Home Care segments), or MS / PhD degree in a related science and 5+ years’ relevant experience.
- Proven track record of successful delivery of technical projects in an FMCG company.
- Experience with and understanding of chemistry and clinical / claims support methodologies used to support product and new claims development.
- Strong formulation and technology knowledge relating to Hygiene/Health segments preferred and understanding and experience working across key regulatory classifications (esp. biocides, cosmetics, general products).
- Strong understanding of the product development process from concept ideation to launch.
- Proven strong track record with recruitment, management, and development of people.
