The Trainee Shipbroker monitors the freight, ship hire and cargo rates closely, identifies ships available for charter and prepares contracts aligned to the client's requirements. He sustains the organization’s relationships with existing clients by ensuring that service standards are met, and assesses market data to identify potential clients to management. He has initiative and with a flair for numeracy and accuracy.

**Critical Work Functions**
- **Manage chartering operations**
- Prepare reports on sales and freight earnings
- Find ships for specific employment
- Monitor and analyse market directions, and supply and demand

of ships
- Assist in the negotiation and finalisation of contract details
- **Lead improvements to enhance efficiency**
- Propose workflow improvements to improve efficiency
- Assist with implementation of workflow improvements to

improve efficiency
- **Service client accounts**
- Update clients on chartering activities, personnel, refinery and

fleet changes
- Update chartering and customer databases

**Other Requirements**
- Diploma or Degree in Maritime related discipline.
- Geopolitical and economic knowledge of the Indian subcontinent is an advantage to help develop shipments and carriage of drybulk imports into Indian-subcontinent markets.
- Articulate and discuss ideas and persuade others to achieve common outcomes.
- Detect and decipher emotions of others to manage interpersonal relationships in social situations.
- Contribute to a positive and cooperative working environment by fulfilling own responsibilities and providing support to co
