The objective for the role of Linguistic Specialist is to support/supplement the function of the Teaching Specialist. The activities are predominantly focuses on reading, writing, spelling and social/descriptive communication that is relevant to support the child’s academic journey.

This is a dedicated role, which is typically carried out individually with students having learning difficulties.

The specialist is to manage and be responsible for the assessment and recommendation of strategies to help the child cope with the academic and social demands of school. The appointee reports to the Centre Manager/ Head Coach.

Duties & Responsibilities

When assessing students, Linguistic specialist do the following:

- Communicate with students to evaluate their level of reading, writing, spelling, speaking or comprehension difficulty. This include reviewing any report from relevant psychologist and speech therapist.
- Determine the extent of problems faced by the child by having the student complete basic reading and vocalizing tasks.
- Identify strategic options
- Create and carry out an individualized education plan
- Advise parents should the scope of work requires the support of Speech Therapist and highlight to management for further actions to refer the parents to certified Speech Therapist.
- Coaching parents to support students at home.
- Coach all teachers on how to support students and to enhance their level of competency in the areas of read, write, spell and communication (oral exams).

**Qualification / Experience**

1. Degree in special education, speech and language therapy, linguistic studies or related qualification

2. At least 2 years of relevant working experience

3. Experience working with children especially with Autism will be an advantage
