Team Structure:
The Accounts team currently comprises of a team of 7 people: a team of 5 in Stephenson Harwood and 2 in Virtus Law. The team is responsible for the processing and integrity of information relating to; purchase ledger; credit control; cashiering, billing, and the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports.
Main Responsibilities:
Monthly schedules:
- Update of monthly schedules for Balance Sheet GL for:
- Deposits
- Other Debtors
- Staff loan
- Prepayment
- Accruals
- Provision for doubtful debt
Client residual balances:
- Prepare and review monthly update.
- Fixed asset register
- Review monthly update.
- Write-off exercise for old and obsolete assets
- Review F.A. Hire charge for VL recharge
SH and VL interfirm reconciliation:
- Update monthly AP and AR Bill Inquiry list.
- Liaise with VL on unreconciling items.
- Follow up with Executive assistants or fees earners on unrecorded invoices and make necessary adjustments.
GST:
- Prepare GST reporting on monthly basis.
- Identify standard-rated AP invoices billed in foreign currency.
- Reconcile GST report and GL.
- Quarterly filing to IRAS
Annual financial year audit:
- Prepare all audit schedules and reports prior to commencement of audit.
- Assist Juliana in attending to audit request. Liaise with London management accountants for audit queries and listings if necessary.
- Prepare interfirm balances and transaction for audit confirmation.
AGS5 Annual audit (Client account):
- Liaise with auditors and attend to audit queries.
Attributes/Skills Required:
- Relevant experience in an international law firm.
- Not afraid to challenge thinking, has an aptitude for problem-solving and a methodical approach to their work.
- Strongly demonstrates the Stephenson Harwood values of individuality, commitment, teamwork and straight talking.
- Demonstrable evidence in having strong work habits and time-management skills.
- A high attention to detail, someone who enjoys 'getting things right' and knows the importance of data.
- Excellent working knowledge of Excel along with relevant finance systems relevant to the legal sector
- An experienced manager who can motivate others, collaborate effectively and drive performance.
- An ability to flex one's style when needed and equally have a good level of resilience, persuasion, and reasoning skills, and knowing how to manage oneself in challenging situations and with competing deadlines & demands.
