- Licensed to practice in Singapore, Australia, U.S., U.K. (or another common law jurisdiction) or admitted in other SEA jurisdiction with sound knowledge of relevant regional laws.
- 5+ years of relevant legal experience, including working as a lawyer for television or feature film productions.

We are looking for a talented Corporate Counsel to support our rapidly evolving and expanding original programming slates internationally. This position will be based in Singapore.
In this role, you will help support the development and production of Amazon Studio’s scripted television series, unscripted television series, and feature-length motion picture original content in the Southeast Asia (“SEA”) region, working closely with the U.S.based Amazon Studios legal team that oversees and leads local language content initiatives globally (“AS Int’l Legal Team”).
Key job responsibilities
- Supporting the U.S.based AS Int’l Legal Team by providing inputs based on local law, in consultation with local counsel, in relation to agreements for scripted and unscripted series and motion picture projects, including production services agreements, rights and format option/purchase, license, and acquisition agreements, key above-the-line agreements such as writer, producer, director and performer agreements, documentary and reality participant and access agreements, and first look and overall agreements.
- Evaluating and providing recommendations to the AS Int’l Legal Team to assist in resolution of complex rights issues.
- Analyzing issues, interpreting contracts and providing thoughtful legal advice to the AS Int’l Legal Team and other internal stakeholders (creative, business affairs, production, marketing, publicity and other teams) on potential risks and issues involving a wide range of legal and regulatory issues across the SEA region, including intellectual property, defamation, rights of publicity and privacy rights, guilds/unions, labor and employment, immigration, public policy, safety, and compliance matters.
- Overseeing local outside counsel with respect to the above and supporting the AS Int’l Legal Team with the development of forms, processes and policies.
- A mix of law firm and in-house experience, preferably at a network, studio or production company.
- Ability to work independently while effectively supporting and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical skills and a solutions-oriented approach to addressing issues.
- Capability to manage a high volume of projects and meet deadlines.
- Practical and sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
