**General Description**:
Reporting directly to the Singapore CEO, the Head of Strategy sets the strategic direction of Manulife Singapore and runs the strategic planning process to ensure our initiatives are aligned to Singapore’s bold ambition, with clear roadmaps and KPIs. It leads business prioritization, performance and execution of broader change agenda across the organization.

The Head of Strategy serves as the internal trusted advisor in providing strategic thought leadership and delivery of strategic agenda to achieve financial and operational plans, with robust framework for implementation. Working closely with the Singapore Leadership Team (SLT) and regional strategy and transformation team, this individual is responsible for driving Singapore’s strategic project portfolios and tracking the strategic initiatives to deliver on the strategy and ensure execution excellence.

The individual will also be the Chief of Staff responsible for managing the information flow for the CEO office using deep industry knowledge and commercial acumen to ensure that all discussions are data driven, engaged and outcome focused. The individual will work closely with the SLT to fulfill management deliverables, management reporting, business and financial planning, and prioritization/
coordination of key activities across Manulife’s life insurance and wealth businesses.

The individual must be comfortable working with ambiguous, fluid and changing responsibilities, and be able to readily adapt to the dynamics of managing multiple ongoing initiatives simultaneously. The role is complex, requiring deep industry knowledge in terms of competitive dynamics, functional knowledge, and capital management. The individual must be a persuasive communicator and able to manage ‘up’ whilst competent to roll-up sleeves and work directly to research, prepare outputs and communications on behalf of Singapore CEO.

**Responsibilities**:
**Develop high impact strategies in partnership with business/functional leads to drive profitable growth**
- Spearhead the development of Singapore’s growth strategy and lead the organization’s vision and business case for change in a way that inspires commitment in others. Inform strategy development through a rich understanding of external factors (i.e. tech, customer, industry, competitor trends) and internal capabilities of the company.
- This includes assessing internal and external data to size growth opportunities to derive point of reference of where we are today, future aspirations and go-forward strategy, identifying key initiatives against the opportunities, prioritizing the initiatives and defining success metrics across the priorities and initiatives to measure financial and non
- financial performance.
- Drive the annual strategic planning process with Finance and facilitate dialogue around prioritization of key strategic and transformational initiatives. Drive strategic alignment across functional and country work streams to ensure strategic projects are relevant and aligned to the strategic goals of Manulife Singapore and build out and refine a clear prioritized roadmap (activities to accelerate, continue and stop/deprioritize) aligned with Singapore, Asia and Group strategies.
- Actively monitor and share with leadership key strategic and financial results of global peers relative to Manulife Singapore’s own progress to ensure that the company is on track to achieve its ambition and to gain key insights into its strategic decisions.
- Act as strategic counsel to the CEO and a ‘control tower’ to facilitate the flow of information and priorities to/from the CEO Office, including planning and develop contents and presentations for Asia CEO (internal and external engagements).

**Ensure clear governance and seamless execution, closely monitor progress, and communicate results widely to create momentum for transformation**
- Oversee strategic initiatives to meet financial and non-financial targets. Partner with key business and functional partners to monitor progress against the strategy aspirations and work with the BUs to develop specific action plans to ensure progress remains on track.
- Execute our strategic plan to deliver financial and operational targets, generate momentum to exceed financial and non financial aspirations. This includes defining ambitious individual and organizational goals that support Asia’s and broader enterprise objectives and developing clearly defined KPIs to enhance engagement and ownership to drive execution and transformation.
