Senior Executive, Clinical Research Officer for the Health Screening Centre

Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) is looking for a Senior Executive, Clinical Research Officer who is self-motivated, proactive in problem solving and a strong team player. The CRO will be part of the Health for Life in Singapore (HELIOS) Study team, a flagship Singapore population health study jointly conducted by LKCMedicine, National Healthcare Group and Imperial College of London. We aim to profile the health and behavior of up to 10,000 people from the general Singapore population over the next few years. We are conducting (1) surveys on health, lifestyle and dietary habits, (2) physical and functional measurements (e.g. anthropometry, strength, exercise test, spirometry, ECG, optical imaging and pulse wave velocity) and (3) biomarkers for chronic diseases.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Receive, process and biobank biological samples efficiency, in a timely manner.- Assist in frozen sample retrieval and sorting for study collaborators.- Perform nucleic acid (DNA and RNA) extraction and quantification on whole blood/buffy coat samples.- Perform daily routine measurements on analytical systems e.g clinical chemistry and hematology counter.- Monitor quality standards by verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance, running daily quality controls and calibrations.- Perform general administrative work such as tracking the supply of daily consumables and coordinate with vendors/suppliers on procurement matters.- Able to troubleshoot whenever there are equipment issues/breakdown.- Must adhere to regulatory requirements (HRBA-HTF) and ensure safety in the work environment- .Must be a strong team player.- Able to commit to rotating shifts; afternoon shifts on weekdays, and on Saturdays.

Accountabilities- High quality biobanked samples means preservation of their integrity and hence, suitability for high quality molecular phenotyping in the future.- Timely distribution of biological samples to research collaborators.- Good quality DNA samples are crucial for impactful genomic research.- Measurement of biomarkers including blood count, lipids, bone and joint markers, cardiac and immune markers, diabetes-related markers, thyroid, liver and renal function markers add on to the wealth of data generated.- Quality assurance is attained, ensuring accurate biochemistry results.- This will ensure that consumables do not run out and maintains continuity of laboratory functions.- Prevent lengthy work disruptions should the equipment fails to work.- This ensures zero incidents and accidents, regulatory compliance and maintain passes in audits.- Teamwork improves productivity, and members are happier working together towards common goals and solving problems more efficiently.- Tight deadlines are met.
