Research Fellow in Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) and Drug Discovery

Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKC Medicine), a joint medical school between Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), is currently recruiting a Research Fellow to join the laboratory of A/Prof. Yen Choo. Our lab in the new Clinical Sciences Building, located in the heart of Singapore, is developing high-throughput platform technologies specifically for stem cell research.

Job responsibilities:
- To conduct molecular biology experimental procedures including DNA/RNA extraction, gene expression and RT-PCR, cell culture, tissue collection, cryosectioning and immunostaining- Prepare and carry out experiments with MSCs- Present experiment plans regarding target identification and validation- Perform flow cytometry analysis and sorting- Ability to operate confocal microscopy and others- Perform laboratory administrative functions including procurement of laboratory inventories, replenishment of consumable materials and laboratory safety- Coordinate laboratory meetings and seminars- Perform basic bioinformatic research- Preferably animal husbandry and maintenance

Competencies and Qualifications:
- PhD in relevant field of Stem Cell Biology, Molecular and Cell biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related- Outstanding track record in stem cell research- Experience in MSCs culture, 3D cell culture techniques and cell-based assays- Wide repertoire of current cell and molecular biology methodology (immunofluorescence microscopy, transfection, etc)- Experience in target-based drug discovery is highly desirable- Knowledge of biochemical basics, analytical skills and assay design and statistics- Grant writing experience desirable- Exposure to industry desirable- Organized, motivated, self-driven, team player and reliable.- Adaptable in a rapidly changing research environment.
