**About FIA**

Food Industry Asia (FIA) was established in 2010 by a group of leading food and beverages companies to enhance the industry’s role as a trusted partner in the development of science-based policy in the region.

As a regional industry association, FIA brings together the governments and the food industry’s senior business leaders to champion initiatives that promote sustainable growth and support policies that deliver harmonised results.

Through strong relationships with global, regional, and local stakeholders, FIA is able to engage in effective multilateral dialogues on key industry issues to support the three strategic focal areas at FIA - (1) Health, Nutrition & Innovation, (2) Regulation, Trade & Safe Food, and (3) Sustainability & Resilience.

The role will identify and assess regulatory and policy developments, raise the visibility of trends, risks and issues, prioritizing resources to fully manage and shape the regulatory environment for key areas.

Some travel within Asia is required.

**Areas of Responsibility**
- Oversee regulatory and policy strategies related to FIA’s Cluster programme such as Sustainability, Smart Regulation, Health & Nutrition, Digital Labelling and E-commerce
- Monitor regional developments, regulatory, economic and political, pertaining to the above priorities
- Maintain responsibility for regional external/regulatory relations activities and implement a regulatory/external ffairs programme to ensure management’s understanding of related developments mentioned above
- Remain current with all relevant and pending government relations and regulatory activities
- Study, analyse and interpret, proposed legislation and regulations assessing possible impact
- Recommend well thought-out courses of action to regulatory and policy challenges
- Devise a system by which FIA may report on developments and progress to members
- Draft and submit relevant position papers for public consumption and regulatory presentations
- Prepare timely, accurate and quality materials, reports and correspondence
- Support with annual communications plans and liaise with consultancies and agencies on execution
- Support with cross collaboration between SRA and PA teams and support the development of team members

**Primary Stakeholders
**Internal**: Regulatory Affairs, Public Affairs, Food Safety, R&D professionals working in FIA member companies

**External**: Central government bodies and agencies, FDA’s, Trade associations, special-interest groups, think-tanks, academia, relevant consultancies, and NGOs

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Minimum 15-years of working across both regulatory and external relations work experience
- Strong exposure working in a multinational food and/or beverage company; strong exposure of working with or in related trade association
- Excellent consultative skills in providing focused and predictive advice on complex regulatory/external affairs issues
- Able to comprehend and crystalize regulatory and policy issues in a meaningful way to internal and external groups
- Outstanding English fluency is mandatory, which will be apparent through both written and verbal excellence
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems through consensus and collaboration is essential, managing conflicts and negotiating through active listening, critical thinking, and persuasive skills
- Proven experience as a ‘self-starter;’ independent and confident
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science & Technology; an advanced degree in this area is highly preferred
- High level of corporate professionalism, gravitas, confident; knowing how to analyse, negotiate, and influence at the right times
- Able to work flexibly under pressure, to tight deadlines and balance multiple and competing tasks properly, with proven people management aptitude
- Understand how to bring clarity to ambiguous situations, acting decisively and mindfully
- Exemplary networking and influencing skills, able to partner effectively and form sturdy level relationships with subordinates, peers, and management
- Strong project and people management skills and a history of executing complex regulatory and external affairs programmes with speed, accuracy, and efficiency
