Data Centre Field Technician

Please note that this is a freelance position and paid on a per ticket basis. Description of the work is as shown:

- Installing, moving, decommissioning, and troubleshooting hardware including cabinets, shelves, power strips, rails, fiber/copper/other cables and cable management, servers, storage, network, firewall, and other devices within the Data Center and outside of it
- Confirm and label devices, racks, and cables
- Work in a standard ticketing system, providing clear, timely, and appropriate customer communications
- Work under the direction of a lead Data Center Technician, the Site Operations Supervisor, and/or Operations Manager; and follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Program Policies, Safety Policies, and Security Policies, while meeting requirements for quality and quantity of work.
- Perform design redlining and produce detailed reports and documentation

Requirements of the job are:
High attention to detail and ability to follow other technicians’ direction to ensure quality

Able to performs multiple tasks and ensures deadlines

Good verbal and written communication skills in English

Ability to respond to any On-Call request within 1 hour, while on-call.

Effectively utilize ticket, inventory, and dispatch management systems

Experience working with CAT5e and CAT6 copper cable and multi-mode and single-mode fiber

Basic knowledge of computer hardware

Basic understanding of networking components and infrastructures

Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
