Strategic Partner Manager, Payments Platform

Minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- 5 years of experience in the Payments industry or related areas, including card, direct debit, online banking and other alternative payment methods

Preferred qualifications:

- Strong understanding of operating rules, regulations and key contracting terms related to payment processing
- Acumen to digest complex business and technical requirement to evaluate new opportunities and assess impacts to cross functional teams
- Understanding of international payment network, alternative payment methods, operating rules, regulations and key contracting terms related to payment processing
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence internally within Google and externally as an advocate for Google
- Strong analytical skills to derive management/operations/financial insights that drive systems and process improvements with our payment partners

**About the job**:
In this role, you will work with Finance, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Product, Business Development, and Engineering teams to locate, develop and manage payments partnerships. You will also represent Google to the card network associations, issuers and acquirers who support our payment transaction processing for all Google products and services

You will own management of these partnerships, and advocate on behalf of Google to engage business and industry leaders to drive improvement in the payment supply chain to ensure Google’s products have the best customer payments experiences and set new global standards in scalability and efficiency

The Global Partnerships organization is responsible for exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Google’s Global Partnerships team works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business. The Global Partnerships team supports Google’s own Product teams with essential partnerships to help Google’s user experiences in advertising, Search, Assistant, Maps, Travel, Shopping, Payments and more. Teams create product-enabling partnerships, go-to-market strategies and incubate business growth for a variety of products

**Responsibilities**:

- Be a trusted partner to Google’s product teams, consulting on payments best practices, potential partners and industry rules
- Lead Request for Information (RFI), Request for Proposal (RFP), and negotiations for partner selection. Lead resolution of complex partner escalations across different categories (financial, operational, technical, regulatory, etc)- Define and drive partner strategy to support industry trends and Googles’ product roadmap in APAC across emerging forms of payments and industry trends, such as eWallets, instalments, domestic processing. Also drive partner improvements based on scorecards, metrics and assessments- Identify industry improvements and optimization opportunities, and represent Google in conversations with partners, networks, issuers and acquirers to improve processing capabilities
- Work with cross functional areas across Google to derive a holistic partnership strategy, while providing thought leadership to industry trends across Open Banking, BNPL and rest of payments ecosystem
