**The Role**

The Composers and Authors Society of Singapore (COMPASS) is a non-profit organisation representing composers, authors and publishers. As a collective management organisation, we license musical works and collect royalties on our members’ behalf. COMPASS shall be regulated by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore.

The Paralegal assists the Head of Licensing & Legal Affairs. The job scope includes both backend drafting and reviewing and assisting in frontline negotiations. Possible room for growth as a legal counsel.

**Main Responsibilities**

1. Provide legal support.

2. Draft and review licence agreements, tariff schemes and legal documents.

3. Assist in licensing negotiations.

4. Resolve simple disputes with licensees.

5. Conduct legal research.

6. Assist with legal enforcement and lawsuits.

7. Conduct fieldwork, including evidence-taking for legal proceedings.

8. Review and improve systems and processes.

9. Keep up to date on developments in music copyright laws and news.

10. Any other work duties as requested by the Head of Licensing & Legal Affairs.

Key requirements

1. Degree in Law/ Diploma in Legal Studies.

2. Experience dealing with legal or intellectual property matters.

3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

4. Able to identify problems, analyse and provide commercially practical solutions.

5. Able to handle difficult situations with maturity, tact and firmness.

6. Detailed and organised.

7. Team-player.
