Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct R&D work in green chemistry and technology related to the area of têxtile recycling, specifically on cellulose dissolution/têxtile separation/polymer functionalisation/dye removal & green development
- Design and formulate technical solutions to enable separation of waste têxtile into precursors for manufacturing new têxtiles
- Design scalable recycling/waste treatment processes based on conceptual experiment design and protocol
- Assist in laboratory safety management and routine maintenance tasks for smooth operation of the research centre
- Engage and oversee academic and industrial collaboration projects
- Provide guidance to undergraduate and graduate students in various research projects
- Prepare research proposals for industrial and academic collaborations, technical reports, documentation for intellectual properties (patents), and academic research manuscripts

Job Requirements:

- Ph.D. degree in material science and engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, or related fields (including those who submitted or about to submit PhD thesis)
- Research or working experience in sustainability-related projects preferred
- Knowledge in functional materials design, materials structure-properties relationship
- Knowledge on polymer science and materials characterization and analysis
- Knowledge on polysaccharide, cellulose chemistry, modification, dissolution, ionic liquids, green solvents preferred
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Proactive and creative team player
