Overview*

Reporting to the Chief Radiation Physicist, you will provide scientific, safety and technical support in a radiation therapy department (with supervision).

Job Responsibilities*

You will be primarily responsible (80%) for the following**:

- Radiation dosimetry, calibration and in-vivo measurements.
- Quality assurance of treatment machines, treatment planning systems and dosimetry equipment.
- Radiation safety measurements and administration.
- Radiation treatment plan quality assurance.
- Equipment commissioning

You will be secondarily responsible (20%) for the following:

- Professional development, training and orientation in all areas of radiation therapy physics.

Requirements*
- A postgraduate degree in Medical Physics is preferred. A postgraduate degree in Physics or Engineering is also acceptable.
- From 3-5 years of clinical experience preferred.
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
- Knowledge and understanding of current radiation therapy principles, methods, procedures, and techniques.
- Knowledge and understanding of the operational characteristics, usage, and safety parameters of a comprehensive range of radiation therapy equipment and facilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment.
- Computer hardware and software knowledge and skills.
- Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
- Knowledge of radiation safety principles, methods, and procedures
- Knowledge of regulations, guidelines, and standards for the provision of medical physics/radiation therapy to patients.

Working Conditions
- Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment.
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 20 kilograms.
- Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
- Occasionally work may need to be completed outside normal working hours including weekends.
