Technical Specialist

Job Summary:
The **Technical Specialist - Molecular **at Medpace Reference Laboratories plays a pivotal role in research-based drug development within the pharmaceutical industry. Responsibilities:

- Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting;
- Expected to develop knowledge of federal regulations regarding clinical trials;
- Expected to develop knowledge of pre-analytical variables affecting clinical laboratory testing;
- Expected to develop knowledge of disease processes and correlation with clinical laboratory data;
- Perform laboratory investigations;
- Perform testing, documentation, and routine lab system operations;
- Ensure validity of laboratory data reported.
- Develop methods for routine and biomarker testing (primarily using qPCR, Sanger sequencing and NGS) in our expanding laboratory.
- Perform viral load and sequencing assays according to SOPs.
- Participate in validation activities and participate in daily operation of the qPCR and sequencing platforms.
- Participate in experimental design and instrument set-up.
- Contribute to maintaining a Quality environment and participate actively in SOP writing; and
- Maintain overview of inventory and orders.

Qualifications:

- Min. Master’s degree of Science.
- Experience with qPCR techniques especially on large platforms such as the Abbott m2000 and the Roche Cobas; experience in Sanger and NGS sequencing
- Experience in optimizing, and analyzing results.
- Knowledge of principles of viral load, viral shedding and gene expression by qPCR, Sanger sequencing and NGS preferably in a central lab environment.
- Knowledge of the Analyse-it data analysis statistical package is preferable;
- Basic knowledge of drug therapy techniques and medical terminology;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good command of both written and spoken of English;
- Able to work in a team environment with effective interpersonal skills and able to work independently; and
