
Assistant/operations Manager

This position manages and provides support to the supply chain leadership of the following functional areas: Production, Logistics, Receiving, Purchasing, Test, Production Engineering, and Training. This position is primarily responsible for continuity of supply of high quality, on-time product from key contract manfucturers engaged by Advanced Energy (AE). The position manages, directly & indirectly, all functions related to ensuring availability of the contract manufactured product into the AE factory or to AE’s customers.
**ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Assist management to formulate, implement, review and streamline work processes to improve CM operational engagement efficiency.
- Initiates and coordinates efforts for continuous improvement between AE Supply Chain and CM
- Plan and manage workflows, delegations, escalations and resource distribution across functions
- Able to lead and understand bottleneck/ operations challenges due to high-mix low-volume business nature and help shape improvements to operational management systems, processes and best practices
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, internal and external
- Primary contact point for CM engagement for all issues and ensure issues are being follow up
- Primary contact point for CM support from internal AE teams such as Product Engineering, Supplier Quality, Planning, and Operations
- Acts as the primary owner of supply to AE’s factories for assigned contract manufactured products. Prediction, mitigation & communication of risks such as capacity, raw materials to internal & external customers will be critical to to this role.
- Compile and review CM Reporting performance Indicators and propose improvement
- Travel may be required.
- Other duties as assigned.
**WORK ENVIRONMENT**:
Primarily works in a fast-paced office environment and a manufacturing environment which may be noisy and fast paced.
**SKILLS**:
1. Desire to improve inefficient processes and workflows
2. Capability to respond quickly, decisively, assertively and professionally to the changing requirements in demand and schedules.
3. Ability to effectively negotiate and set priorities.
5. Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of demand-based manufacturing systems.
6. Excellent PC skills, including Excel, Word and MS Standard Office.
7. Strong organizational skills.
9. Ability to work on several/many projects simultaneously.
10. Ability to motivate others in a team environment.
**EXPERIENCE**:
- 5-10 years of experience in Electrical/Electronics Manufacturing and Operations Management.
- Experience in and understanding of lean manufacturing practices.
- Experience in a high mix/low volume manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in production planning, sales operations, or purchasing preferred.
- Technical background or experience in electronics is preferred but not required.
**EDUCATION**:
1. Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Production/Operations Management (or closely related field) or a combination of relevant experience and education equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree.
- APICS CPIM Certification/classes strongly desired.
- Six-Sigma training/ Green Belt certification desired.
