Freelance Youth Worker

**Position Summary**:
The Youth Worker will play a crucial role in implementing Resilient Minds programs within schools, working closely with at-risk students to provide guidance, support, and a positive, trusting environment. This role involves direct engagement with students, facilitating group activities, providing one-on-one mentorship, and collaborating with school staff to support each student's emotional, social, and academic growth.
**Working Hours**:
- Based on the school you're attached to,
- Wednesdays only, 2-4pm
- Primary school in Woodlands
- Contract is from 19 February 2025 to 12 November 2025**:27 sessions only**:
- $35-$50 an hour (based on experience)
**Key Responsibilities**:
Instructor(s) must be able to work effectively with High-Needs Students (HNS) who are:
- underperforming and/or have no interest/ motivation inlearningat risk as they need improvement in their attendance and/ or exhibit social-emotional, mental health and peer-related problems
Instructor(s) must be able to plan and run activities that will achieve the objectives stated below:
- **Strengthen After-School Care and Support**: Design, plan, and execute activities for HNS to address their basic needs and enhance motivation, resilience, and education outcomes in a safe environment.
- **Motivation**: Equip students with the strategies to motivate and build their mental and emotional resilience.
**Social-Emotional Competencies**: Develop students’ social-emotional competencies, particularly self-awareness and self-management so that they become more confident and self-directed learners to achieve their goals.
**Character Development**: Develop students' character and fostering values such as responsibility, teamwork, and patience as students take part in activities that promote pro

- Provide and prepare the necessary materials and resources required for the programme (e.g., resources for activities during sessions).
**Qualifications and Skills**
- Min diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or related field; relevant certifications are a plus.
- Prior experience working with at-risk youth, ideally in a secondary school setting.
- Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with students.
- Ability to create a supportive, inclusive, and safe environment that encourages student growth.
- Knowledge of mental health practices, resilience-building strategies, and trauma-informed care.
- Problem-solving and adaptability skills to meet the unique needs of each student and school environment.
