**POSITION: BUYER**
The purpose of the role is to be the central commercial leader of an assigned product category, delivering a customer-relevant offer in line with the company strategy. Responsibility will include the planning and purchasing for our company-owned stores and websites. This position will develop and execute demand forecasting and inventory management, ensuring the right balance of assortment investments and accurate inventory flow in optimizing inventory, maximizing sales and profitability while driving business initiatives in partnership with cross-functional teams towards meeting divisional financial targets and brand strategies.
**Business Focus & Development**
- Responsible for development and execution of merchandise strategies for the brand or concept in line with positioning, taking into consideration customer profile, categories assortment, fashion trends, products, and price points
- Development and management of merchandise plan: open to buy, inventory levels, markdown and promotions and monthly sales and margin targets to achieve the set financial goals.
- Establish seasonal assortment roll-up plans, both top-down and at SKU level and ensure the right balance of inventory optimization on newness and core business vs plan sales and merchandising strategies.
- Development of Season Flow Calendar and Line Range, plan merchandise assortment with category mix and range planning based on OTB and historical data
- Being constantly on top of key market and product trends and being able to translate right trends into commercial opportunities.
- Analysing business performance, SKU productivity, trends and provide hind sights to identify opportunities and drive pre-season strategy and assortment plans taking appropriate actions to achieve sales and profit goals.
- Formulate pricing strategies based on target GP% and conduct comparison analysis against regional and competitors’ pricing
- Review inventory and propose action plans for slow-moving merchandise. Liaise with the marketing department to execute promotion strategies in line with product launches
- To conduct trend, product knowledge and feedback sessions with operations team regularly.
- Attends buying conference
**DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES**:
- Educated to a degree level.
- Min 5 years’ experience in a role with analytical/strategic responsibilities - Retail industry experience a plus.
- Possess Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Advanced Microsoft Excel (eg. Formulas, Pivot tables, V-Lookup, etc) is a must
- Meticulous and detail-oriented with strong follow-through
- Strong organizational skills & ability to multi-task
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Able to deliver results by influencing internal and external partners.
- Superior written and spoken communication, listening, and presentation skills in Mandarin and English are essential
- International experience preferred.
**Requirements**:
- Bilingual in English and Chinese to liaise with counterpart.
- Possess excellent fashion sense and market-sensitivity & strong interest in fashion.
