The Java chapter lead is responsible for a team of 4 to 8 developers with the following development skills Java 8 and above, Spring (Core, Security, MVC), Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, REST API, Kafka, Angular JS, PostgreSQL/Oracle, Unit Test.

**Role and responsibilities**
- Ensure and support that the technical standards of the bank
- Support continuous improvement of the support and development practices within the chapter
- Be responsible for the Development Chapter members
- Mentor and coach Development Chapter members (Chapter meeting, 1 on 1, skill matrix, etc)
- Be responsible for the performance review, leave approval and ad-hoc management decision for the Development Chapter members
- Participate to the recruitment and onboarding of resources for the Development Chapter
- Establish and follow development and career plan for the Chapter members
- Gather impediments for staff to perform their work and follow-up actions and escalate if needed
- Ensure top down / bottom up communication
- Assist Division Heads in estimating resource needs and schedules according to upcoming projects
- Work or help in support or projects for squads when required
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
- 8+ years of overall experience as software engineer
- 3+ years in banking industry
- 2+ years in managing team of developers
- At least 5+ years of hands-on experience with various Java / Web technologies and frameworks: Java 8 and above, Spring (Core, Security, MVC), Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, Angular JS(optional), PostgreSQL or Oracle, REST API, Unit Test
- General banking knowledge and work experience in banking industry
- Experience with CI/CD, Bitbucket, Maven, DevOps and Agile
- Strong knowledge about design patterns and development principles
- Hands-on experience on API related activities: requirement analysis, design, resource-based API modeling, micro-services architecture
- Strong critical thinker with problem solving aptitude
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience and knowledge of automated testing (TDD, BDD)
- Good attitude, proactive and work well together in a team
