Sr Director, Engineering

Leading Teams of highly specialized individuals to drive the implementation of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (incl. a Process Development Center) and Digital Transformation towards a globally developed strategy for the "Smart Factory" in Singapore. Additionally, this role will partner with Business and Functional leaders to ensure that current/future manufacturing capabilities are aligned with new product development and business needs. Business Justification: - The function will drive productivity gains across EW Implant network by implementing IT process automation tools such as manufacturing execution systems (MES) that will drive labor efficiencies (and regulatory compliance - The function will also generate productivity gains through the implementation of more efficient/ effective manufacturing technologies across the network (i.e. EMI automated testing). - Productivity targets will be set up on an annual basis depending on factories in scope for that year. Key Responsibilities: 1. Strategic, Organizational and Human Resources - Provide leadership and oversight for all the Advanced Manufacturing, Technology and Digital Transformation activities, including creating a vision, multi-year strategies and operating model for a globally aligned Smart Manufacturing for Implant Network. - The position will oversee, inspire and develop SMEs, and retain a technical talent to ensure Engineering knowledge continuity and knowledge transfer capabilities from Singapore site to the global Implant Network. - Manage resource planning, project planning, budgeting, expense priorities, performance management, and working through team managers to achieve results - Lead and coordinate with global and local cross-functional project groups to develop and provide product and process design recommendations - Develop core competency profiles for IN technology functions for automation, and digital Engineering and Testing - Work along with the Manufacturing leaders in the deployment /execution and adoption of these profiles across the Implant manufacturing network. 2. Digital Transformation and Automation - Collaborate and align with GSC World-Wide Engineering, -Automation, -Digital Strategy and Implant Network Leadership Teams in driving standardized programs leveraging best in class practices. - Coordinates and supports commercialization strategies for new (advanced) processes and digital platforms, incl. global replication of best practices developed and tested in Singapore, etc 3. Manufacturing Technology Roadmaps - Drives innovation from ideation to realization for process improvements, including definition and deployment of technology roadmaps, justification, and funding of projects, and developing implementation plans. - Facilitate and develop along with BU, Functional and Regional leaders the creation, maintenance and deployment of a Smart Factory of the future blueprint - Work in collaboration with Manufacturing, QA, and RD leaders as well as external Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) in the creation of a manufacturing technology roadmap. - Support the Implant network in the selection of cost effective, flexible, and reliable Manufacturing technologies to meet assembly, testing and inspection needs. - Responsible of the Automation and New Manufacturing Technologies portfolio within Implant Network 4. Finance - Responsible of the financial justifications for Capital Appropriations (CAPEX) related to Manufacturing Technology investments within Singapore facility including capital planning, etc 5. Design for Manufacturing - Ensures that the best practices regarding Product Lifecycle Management Technologies are understood and followed across Singapore site and Implant Network - Coordinates Process Development Programs in “Design for Manufacturability and Assembly” (DFMA) feasibility reviews with R&D and Product Engineering (NPI), and any other key stakeholders - Works with valve design functions to promote Design for Automation concepts to facilitate improve process design and optimizations. 6. Project Management - Drives the transition into a Digital and Automated Singapore Factory by leading the digital and automation portfolio of projects. 7. Lean and Six Sigma Thinking - Drive a value stream mindset and culture of continuous improvement based on Lean and Six Sigma principles and the EW Business System (EBS) and particularly the EW Production System (EPS). - Other incidental duties under the overall EW-Singapore Engineering functions Education and Experience: - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering related experience in Engineering required and skill levels exceeding the requirements of that of a Senior Manager Required - Other: in related experience in Engineering required and skill levels exceeding the requirements of that of a Senior Manager Preferred - N/A years experience Demonstrated track record in management of scientific, technical and/or engineering disciplines Required - Experience working in a highl
