Singapore Continental AG Full time

Tasks
- Contribute to the overall design and development of various components of our robot localization system (e.g. map aided localization, sensor fusion and state estimation using a range of sensor data, lidar odometry, and visual inertial odometry). We take the time to ensure everything works robustly and reliably with each sensor/compute configuration.
- Research and prototype new algorithms for robot localization in challenging conditions such as environments with high occlusion, dynamic scenes or with sensors with high level of noise.
- Test and evaluate different sensor offerings in the market and how they can be used to augment existing localization approaches.
- Research and develop algorithms and approaches to reliably detect the failures in localization systems due to edge case scenarios.
- Help build benchmarks to automatically test the performance of the localization system in a range of edge cases.
- Help build tools that allow us to monitor the performance of the localization system when deployed in the field.
- Work closely with other teams (e.g. navigation team, perception team, and fleet management team) to ensure operational requirements are met.
- We’re constantly looking to build our IP portfolio; hence you will be expected to write invention disclosures that will lead to patents with the help from our IP lawyers.
- Develop well-documented industry-ready software modules and libraries predominantly for ROS2 with the assistance of senior software engineers.

**Qualifications**:

- A degree related to Computer Science or Engineering and 2 years of industry experience
- Experience in the development of localization solutions for mobile robots with proficiency in at least one of i) sensor fusion ii) state estimation iii) robot localization iv) SLAM v) lidar or visual odometry. Having experience in a university or industrial research setting is an advantage.
- A solid foundation in robotics and a good fundamental understanding of how localization interacts and affect the overall autonomy system. A working level understanding and experience in machine learning would be of advantage.
- Proven experience in software development for robotics with a good understanding of software development lifecycle and design patterns.
- An eye for detail, commitment, and enthusiasm to see your algorithms working on real robots.
- Technical proficiency in robot localization-related topics
- Good software development skills in C++/Python/Rust
- Experience in ROS/ROS2
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Willingness to travel
