Clinical Application Specialist

**Summary of Role**

This role requires nursing support in PD Home Therapy, HD, CRRT and performs patient assessment and appropriate interventions for patient’s outcome in home setting. Perform basic and complex nursing procedures e.g. Catheter change, exit Site dressing, operate Fluid mgmt. machine, injection of antibiotics. Manage and plan the support needed for individual patients.

**Key Accountabilities**

Demonstrates a high level of understanding, knowledge and skills in Peritoneal Dialysis, HD, CRRT

Fresenius Medical Care portfolio, and renal nursing
- Actively discuss with Drs and nurses on clinical management of patients and how our

product benefit patients.
- Provide nursing support through the 4-prong systemic approach to Nursing Delivery

which comprises of Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation for PD Home

patients.
- Provide clinical Training to Nurses in hospitals, Home Nursing Foundation, National Kidney

Foundation and Nursing Homes.
- Conduct Competency assessment on Hospital nurses twice yearly.
- Provide PD care training to patients and their caregiver
- Delivers and evaluates education programs/ in-services as developed by the marketing

team about Fresenius Medical Care products
- Identifies individual learning needs of clients in consultation with the nurse manager & or

educator in order to support individual learning
- Supports training related to product trials at Customer location
- Supports PD cases in hospital and OT (including after office hours and weekends)
- Support 24/7 PD Hot Line

**Customers receive clinical expertise as a value-add resource**
- Provides expert PD knowledge and identifies strategies for optimising patient care based

on current research trends and trends in peritoneal dialysis practice
- Work closely with Medical & clinical team to provide clinical support and educational

training to new and existing nurses for PD HD & CRRT.
- Provide basic and complex nursing procedures (e.g. injection, catheter change, antibiotics

administration, etc).

**Support the achievement of business results and growth in patient numbers**:PD HD & CRRT
- Identifies customer resource needs (eg new products, technical support or clinical

training) and provides appropriate support through liaison with the technical, sales,

customer service and marketing teams
- Builds & maintains positive value-added working customer relationships
- Maintains team communications
- Delivers presentations to doctors, nurses key opinion leaders in compliment to Fresenius

Medical Care products as developed by the marketing department
- Organises events such as training sessions, focus groups, networking events for

customers and health professionals in conjunction with the Key Account Manager,

Marketing Manager and clinical team
- Work closely with Sales, technical and clinical team to identify gaps, needs and potentials

in the field
- Provides Sales Lead, Market and competitor’s information
- Provides forecast to SM/BD

**Individual work is performed in support of the local team and wider Company that includes PD, HD and CRRT.**
- Update own clinical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading

professional publications, maintaining professional networks
- Promote a team culture by assisting others during periods of high workloads, leave or

absence so that overall objectives can be met
- Work closely with Marketing Manager to roll out marketing or promotional events

throughout the entire product life-cycle
- Where appropriate become involved in Company’s activities including attendance at staff

meetings and involvement in company events
